Mali Culle

Okay so I bought Coconut Oil ORS (Formerly Organic Root Stimulator) . Its like a cream . I use it on my hair since i've been trying to grow it out. BUT I was wondering... Can I use it on my face??
I've read online that Coconut Oil is good for wrinkles... and I have eye wrinkles. I want to use it around my eye area. Can I?
I want to be safe and make sure nothing bad will happen.

This is what it looks like :

Answer
For this product, i would just stick to using it only for your hair. But regular coconut oil from your health food store is great for almost anything. I cook with coconut oil instead of vegetable oil, it can be used as scalp moisturizer, body moisturizer, lip balm, and soooo much more. I would recommend looking up the uses of coconut oil to fully educate yourself. :)

Where can I find very strong Lice Treatment?

electrical

I've used Rid, and Equate for trying to get rid of lice. Do you know where I could find Lice treatments that are stronger?

Answer
For head lice problem wash your hair with vinegar. It will kill all the nits in two days. Apply coconut oil to your head after shampoo and condition. Add ten to fifteen drops of tea tree oil into shampoo bottle and use it daily. Rub listerine mouth wash on your head. This will kill all the lice. Massage your head with mayonnaise and comb it after 2 hours. This will kill all the lice and their eggs. Apply a mixture of lemon and butter on your head, wait for 15 seconds and then rinse your head.

Step One:

Before beginning the process of cleaning the hair of a lice infected individual, make sure you are working in an area that is not carpeted, preferably a bathroom with tile floors. Make sure there are no rugs on the floor, towels or clothes lying around (they make great hiding places for the lice and nits whose homes are being disturbed).

Best to remove shirt or clothing near the area to be cleaned. If the infected hair is long, it may be beneficial to loosely tie the infected hair up on top of the head either with clips or in a ponytail. The lice will try to run and flee the area to be treated when they sense danger, so cut off their escape routes. They may hide in or behind ears, or on the neck. Dip a cotton swab into a safe cleansing liquid and clean out the ears then paint a ring around the outside of the ears and the hair line around the head.

On a dry head, start at the nape of the neck along the hairline and work around the head saturating the hair as you go moving towards the crown where the hair is tied up. Remove the clips or pony tail and continue to apply the Lice cleanser using enough to completely saturate the hair.

Massage the head and work into a lather then comb through hair to ensure coverage (use a metal, regular toothed comb). Wrap or tie the hair back up on top of the head. Every ten minutes or so, massage the hair until 30 to 40 minutes have past.

Reapply the cleanser and work into lather, then comb through hair again (with a metal regular toothed comb). Let sit in hair for another 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

After Dry hair and comb (with nit comb) to remove any remaining lice or nits. The "nit picking" should be done in daylight, outside if possible, and never on carpet. Clean all surfaces and floors after working on hair. Use hot water and a non-toxic liquid cleanser. It is imperative that the head be closely examined for remaining nits.

Step Two:

Lice are highly contagious and it is extremely important that they are eliminated as fast and completely as possible. Proper sanitation of anything in contact with lice is critical to insure re-infestation does not occur.

When lice are first detected, it is important to launder, in a separate load, everything with which the infected person has come in contact. We recommend the use of a non-toxic laundry solution for this process. Do not dry clean or use chlorine bleach.

Bed clothes (including pillows), jackets (and any jackets that may be hanging close to the infested person's jacket), clothing (everything in the laundry basket), hair combs, brushes, ribbons and doodads, rugs and mats should be laundered in hot water at least 140 degrees. It is best to soak laundry in "pre-soak" or "pre-wash" for at least 30 minutes.

Items that are not washable, such as stuffed animals and sofa pillows, may be placed in an air tight plastic bag and sealed for 30 days, causing the lice to suffocate. Carpets, furniture and car seats should be vacuumed twice. After each vacuuming, the vacuums bags should immediately be removed from the vacuum cleaner, sealed in a plastic bag and disposed of outside of the house. After vacuuming, those same areas should be steam-cleaned, if possible.

coconut oil for acne ???

love2last

i love virgin coconut oil its great for so many things.. i understand how it can moisterize and help with wrinkles but help with acne ?? how can an oil help with acne ?

Answer
Coconut oil naturally has antibacterial and antifungal fatty acids, such as caprylic acid and lauric acid. I think its great for dandruff, and its effect at preventing and removing existing dandruff is likely to be via the inhibition of pro-dandruff organisms on the scalp. So I would have thought equally, it may have some anti-acne effect by inhibiting pro-inflammatory/pro-acne micro-organisms at the skins surface/pore entrance. Its also a great hair softener, can kill head lice and has great moisturising properties. Its great for coooking with, and good for health - for keeping gut fungal organisms at bay. Plus lots more benefits if you go and do the research.

Its worth trying.

Extra Virgin Coconut oil as moisturizer?

LaLa007

So, I've heard of using EVOO, but what about extra virgin coconut oil? Is it better, worse? Any other natural suggestions?

Answer
Personally I would recommend using Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is particularly good for skincare. It penetrates into the skin and does not clog pores and can be used on all types of skin. The vitamin E and antioxidants in this oil are great for fighting aging signs and moisturizing the skin. Jojoba oil is also antibacterial making it great for treating acne breakouts.

You may find the following information on some other oils useful:

Sweet Almond - very moisturising, rich in EFAs and vitamins A & E. Light both in odour and colour and while it is suitable for all skin types, is particularly useful for dry or sensitive skin.

Apricot Kernel - similar to Sweet Almond oil chemically, but with a wonderfully light consistency and aroma making it particularly suitable for facial massage and treatments.

Grapeseed Oil - a light, gentle, emollient oil with a low odour and good penetration. Readily absorbed by the skin and carries a low risk of allergy.

Jojoba Oil - not an oil , but a liquid wax, with natural moisturising and healing properties and suitable for all skin types. Like grapeseed oil, it is not a nut oil so very suitable for those with sensitive skin.

Macadamia Nut Oil - a thick oil recommended for mature or very dry skin due to its high levels of palmitoleic acid, a mono-unsaturated fatty acid not found in most oils.

These oils can be used singly or in combination and may benefit from the addition of other oils such as -

Evening primrose oil - rich in EFA's and in particular GLA, it is very moisturising and rejuvenating, softening and smoothing the skin. It is particularly useful for excessively dry skin or for mature skin.

Rosehip oil - high in EFA's and vitamin C. Emollient and readily absorbed into the skin and is particularly useful for mature, dry or damaged skin.

Wheatgerm Oil - renowned for its high content of Vitamin E, an antioxidant, as well as fatty acids and is particularly useful for dry or mature skin.

Hope this helps!

Putting almond oil in hair?

sara

Ive heard this can help your hair grow long fast and healthy. How exactly do i do it? How much, how often, etc.
Any other tips too?! Thanks!

Answer
There's coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, castor oil, fish oil, so many kinds of oil! Unless you put the oil together yourself in the bottle, then you KNOW what's in them.

You read them online, were they trying to sell you products? Are they bloggers, posting links to their products, too?

Beauty products don't make hair grow. Eating is for growing, how does hair products GROW HAIR, lashes, and make them thicker?

You really are what you eat. If you're eating all the healthy foods from Mother Nature - not made by man or woman or supplements from GNC, your hair, nails, teeth, and the rest of your body will benefit too. You get all your vitamins & minerals from your diet.

There are more hair oil on the shelf now, than 30-40 years ago, and it's because it is a billion dollar business! There are more hair loss now, too, than 30-40 years ago!

There are many hair oil brand out there, man-made oil, none is better than the other. It can very well even harm your hair, even causes hair loss, since you don't know exactly what kind of oil they say it is. In the lab, they add other ingredients that can prevent from spoiling.

It does NOT make hair grow, it does not make hair thicker, it does help keep the hair moisturized, until you wash them again, that's about all it does, they're not glue to fix split ends, prevent, or reverse the damaged hair. Anything else they say on the label, it is to attract your attention. It is a billion dollar business and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra is ready to go on record saying that most manufacturers in the Rs 3,000-crore Indian cosmetics industry are rampantly misleading consumers with tall claims. This affliction goes beyond hair oils. FDA has found that from face creams to soaps and other items of personal care, cosmetics companies are taking the general public for a ride. The industry, of course, sees the whole issue differently.

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. .

does coconut oil make your hair long ?

i waNT MY HAIR TO BE LONGER AND MY MOM PUTS THIS ON MY HAIR SOMTIMES AND I WAS JUST WONDERING THANX ALOT FOR THE HELP ! = ]

Answer
yeah but use virgin coconut oil, i also use it as lotion and hair conditioner and scalp treatment...so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits are instant. dont brush your hair but maybe once a week to message the scalp, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. i just started biotin vitamins going on four months ago this sat and notice and big growth spurt from that. biotin is cheap and also promotes hair regrowth and growth. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online.(puritans pride.com or vitadigest.com) five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. i now take my fingers and message my scalp about five times a week, along with the brushing thats a good way to do it without damaging your hair. apply two or three capsules of e to dry hair and message into scalp and hair really well, put damp towel in microwave for 1 min to get hot, then quickly wrap head, a dry towel can be placed over that to help hold in the heat, leave on for 15 min, shampoo well, makes an excellent hot oil treatment. good luck, AND some people will argue about regular trims, your hair does grow from the roots, yes, but if your hair is not trimmed at the bottom, the it splits, get dry and brittle not to mention thin looking from no trims at all and frizzy. then your hair starts to break off at the bottom and giving you the appearance that it never grows. so to make hair grow as fast as possible and keep it healthy, then trims are an essential part of hair care. look on a ruler and check out less then half an inch and if your salon does not know what that is then take a ruler with you, i have. as of five weeks ago adding beta carotene vitamins to my regimen. i found out that along with the biotin it is very very good in promoting hair growth. they were five bucks for a bottle of 100. got them at walmart. the biotin and e can also be purchased at walmart, and adding all this up is pretty cheap to get great hair. i just wish the shampoo was available in the stores, but not yet.

"" Noticeable Skin Improvement
I have to tell you that after the 1st week of doing the Advanced Clay Detox regimen, I went with my husband for his appointment with our Dermatologist. I noticed the Doctor look at my face twice and he didn't say anything. After Bill's exam was done, I went in to see the Doctor's book keeper, she literally ran up to me and stroked my face with her right hand (something she never did before) and asked me what I was using on my skin. At first, I asked her if she really noticed a difference and she said, "Oh my, yes!!" I didn't notice any changes at the time, but now that I am 18 days into the Advanced Detox, and I have done 3 clay masks, I notice my skin is firmer and the pores are shrinking and I don't use as much makeup. â Robin M.

Love Affair with Living Clay - My Skin Tells All
You know, over the last few years I've gone through lots of different "health" products, but the clay and psyllium husk powder are the only 2 that I have stuck with this long.....because I have seen the results and they are great. I've been out in the sun a lot these past 2 weeks and I have not taken the time to apply sun screen on my face (which I need to be better about), but I have not had the first hint of sunburn on my face yet. I do believe that it is because of the clay masks. My face just does not feel as "sensitive" as it had been in the past. Another thought that I have had about the clay face masks is that the circulation to my face has improved due to the drawing power of the clay as it dries on my face and pulls the blood up. Whenever I wash off the clay my face is flushed red, which is the blood sitting right under the surface of the skin. I believe this is improving my circulation, thus giving more oxygen to those areas, thus making a healthier face. I was not blessed with good circulation. - Hallie G.

Complexion Improvement
I received a sample of the Rejuvenation Face Cream and just love it. I know that it has been instrumental in helping my skin as well! You shared a few days ago that you have gotten feedback from some who have asked that the Rejuvenation Face Cream be marketed as an "acne cream." I can see why! Just wanted to share of my experience thus far with your powder clay product. I've been ingesting an teaspoonful a day in an 8oz. glass of water in the morning on an empty stomach as suggested. I can see a marked difference in the appearance of my skin and complexion. I've been dealing with some slight adult acne which has left some mild scaring. My skin a clearing nicely and seems to have a "glow" to it. I have had a wee bit of sun too. - Cynthia J.

Genital Herpes
I was diagnosed with genital herpes one year ago and went on the usual bout of prescriptions. Every now and then, as predicted, I get a break out, not as bad as the first. A friend of mine -- who is the one I credit to turning me on to your products and a genital herpes sufferer as well, recommended that I put the clay mask directly on the sore and leave it on. I had been using Zovirax cream-- which was not helping by the way. I put it directly on the sore at night and went to bed with it on. The next day, it was completely gone. And this has happened twice. - Julia B. ""............from aboutclay dot com

bentonite clay is available at most health food stores, use no metal to mix, read testimonials and instructions also book reviews

is this really coconut oil?

Kelsie Dri

Over the past weekend I bought a jar of coconut oil at a city market while I was out of town. The oil came in a mason jar (homemade) and had a label on it that said coconut oil. when I got home I noticed some white clumps in the bottom of the jar. I thought it was just a few shavings of coconut in the jar. After thinking about it for a while I wondered if it was really coconut oil or if it was a rip off. it has no smell and has changed over the past few days. This is how it has transformed: DAY ONE it was a clearish yellow oil with a few white clumps stuck to the bottom and what looked like 3 pieces of coconut floating in it. DAY TWO on day two it started to turn a milkey white but was still see through. it was a little clumpy but would smooth out once rubbed onto skin. DAY THREE (today) the oil is solidified and very clumpy. I can turn the container upside down without any dumping out. when it is applied to skin it goes on very smoothly and is not clumpy but when you get some out it is clumpy. I have also made sure to close the lid tightly every time I use it. I would like to use it for other things other than my skin but would like to know for sure it is what is says first. Thanks :)

Answer
Yepp that sounds like coconut oil alright!

Coconut oil has a reletively low melting point, so it doesnt take much to make it have a liquid state again, nor does it take much for it to cool down over the course of time and solidify again. the way it sounds you dont have the most pure stuff, but like you said its homemade so it makes sense.

♥Coconut oil?

I'm here t

What does it do? How come there's so many kind of oils for your skin to use? Like Almond oil, Olive oil, Coconut oil, Tea tree oil, ect.......

But what does Coconut oil do for your skin? Where can I find it?

Answer
Coconut oil is excellent as a skin moisturiser. A study shows that extra virgin coconut oil is as effective and safe as mineral oil when used as a moisturiser, with absence of adverse reactions [6].

Coconut oil can also help in healing Keratosis pilaris by moisturising the effected area. The coconut oil should be applied in the shower, and may cause the KP bumps to disappear.

In India, coconut oil is used as an oil for styling hair.

-------------------------------------------

For skincare, using coconut oil as you would any lotion is ideal. It prevents destructive free-radical formation. It can help to keep the skin from developing liver spots and other blemishes caused by aging and overexposure to sunlight. It helps to prevent sagging and wrinkling by keeping connective tissues strong and supple. The oil is absorbed into the skin and into the cell structure of the connective tissues, limiting the damage excessive sun exposure can cause.

Coconut oil will not only bring temporary relief to the skin, but it will aid in healing and repairing. It will have lasting benefits, unlike most lotions. It can help bring back a youthful appearance. Coconut oil can aid in removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, making the skin smoother. The skin becomes more evenly textured with a healthy "shine". And coconut oil will penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and strengthen the underlying tissues.

To obtain all of coconut oil's health and weight loss benefits, 30 mls per day is recommended for adults.

Halle S

hey guys if you have used coconut oil can you tell me something about the below things? thanks so much??

~Hair &skin
~tanning
~weight loss
~firming skin

thank you SO much!!! also, can you tell me how to take the oil (not the capsules) if you cook with it (instead of using oil/butter), does it effect the taste of what you are cooking with?

thank you guys!!!!

Answer
Coconut oil doesn't add much of a taste to food, but adds a dreamy, sweet smell. It's great for tropical dishes! However, it is mostly saturated fat, so should be used in moderation. Certainly it is not a weight loss supplement. In one serving there are 14g of fat, 12.5 of which are saturated! Olive oil or vegetable oil would be a healthier alternative.

As for hair and skin, it's great for both. I use it as a facial and body moisturizer once a week and it works wonders even on sensitive, dry skin like mine. As for firming skin, I have not seen any research, but most research on cosmetic issues like that are completely unreliable anyway. Having fat in your diet is good for your hair, but applying it straight to your hair will leave it greasy.

Tanning....well, I don't tan ( counterproductive to the skin health issues) so I can't say.
Hope that helped a little :)
