Is coconut oil ok to put on a dogs rash?

Jan

Answer
The problem is the cause of the rash.

Coconut oil isn't poison, and it's probably not going to make anything worse - but it's not going to "cure" the issue either.

Basically, it's pointless. You can smear coconut oil all over your dog until the cows come home - and he's still going to have a rash. Until you see a vet and find out the problem and get medicine.

Coconut oil on skin rash???? Will it work?

liipl 2

My granny has a rash and I applied some Pure coconut oil on her rash. It appeared to have almost completely dissapeared within 24 hours. I was a bit shocked and I wasen't sure if I was imagining things or not. I decided to conitnue cleaning her skin with water and a very gentle soap. Then, I applied a generous amount of coconut oil to the larger areas where the rash happens to be. I plan to regularly clean her skin and continue applying Pure coconut oil to her skin daily. At least twice a day.

Will this help granny's rash go away?

Answer
It should help your grandmother's rash go away. Coconut oil is extremely good for moisturising the skin and helping with skin irritations, so i would recommend you continue using it. I hope it goes away.

How do you go about substituting coconut oil for vegetable oil in cake recipes?

Melinda

I've never used coconut oil so I'm clueless, any help and pointers are appreciated.

Answer
I use coconut oil a lot as it helps my thyroid condition. To substitute for vegetable oil, use the amount of oil called for in the recipe, melt the coconut oil and be sure that the other ingredients (eggs, liquids, etc.) are at room temperature or at least warm enough so that they do not cool the coconut oil enough to make it solidify. The coconut oil will solidify below 75degrees. I love both the rich flavor and texture the coconut oil gives a cake.
____________________________________________________
Edited to add:
This question was concerning using coconut oil for cake. If anyone would also like to sub it for other things...this is what works for me...
To substitute for shortening, I use a combination 1/2 butter and 1/2 coconut oil. (Actually the amount of coconut oil can be reduced by about 25%, so in a recipe calling for 1 cup of shortening I would use 1/2 cup butter and 3/8 cup of coconut oil. If you want to use all coconut oil 3/4 cup of coconut oil should work as a substitute for 1 cup of shortening.)

can you use coconut oil as a substitute for vegetable oil when making brownies?

C G

Its all I have, but I love coconuts!

Answer
I bake with coconut oil all the time and it is yummy! If it's pure coconut oil, it will even add a slightly nutty taste.

If it's the real thing, you'll need to heat it up just a tad first, because coconut oil is solid at room temp.

benefits of coconut oil???

greatachie

What are considered to be the benefits of coconut oil in our skin??

Answer
(m)

Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal. Coconut oil is also being used by thyroid sufferers to increase body metabolism, and to lose weight. Virgin coconut oil is also used for making natural soaps and other health products, as it is one of the healthiest things one can put on their skin.

At one time coconut oil received negative press in the US because of its high level of saturated fat. However, modern research has shown that not all saturated fats are alike and that the fatty acids in coconut oil, the medium chain triglycerides, do not raise serum cholesterol or contribute to heart disease, but are in fact very healthy. Also, some negative studies done on coconut oil in the past was done on hydrogenated coconut oil, which has been altered from its original form. Other studies have clearly shown that traditional Asian cultures that eat significant amounts of coconut in their diet do not suffer from modern diseases seen in western cultures that promote a low-fat diet.

Much research on the nutritional and medicinal benefits on coconut oil has surfaced in recent years. Much of that research has been done by Dr. Mary Enig. Dr. Enig has classified coconuts as a "functional food," which provides health benefits over and beyond the basic nutrients. She has specifically identified lauric acid as a key ingredient in coconut products:

"Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human or animal body. Monolaurin is the anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the human or animal to destroy lipid coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza, various pathogenic bacteria including listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and protozoa such as giardia lamblia. Some studies have also shown some antimicrobial effects of the free lauric acid."

As a "functional food," coconut oil is now being recognized by the medical community as a powerful tool against immune diseases. Several studies have been done on its effectiveness, and much research is currently being done on the incredible nutritional value of pure coconut oil. What are your opinions on coconut oil?

I have read in depth about coconut oil and have some of it, but I still would love to know any facts or other benifits of this oil. It would also be appreciated if you could tell me about any good or bad experiences you have had with this oil.

Answer
The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc.

how often should i wash my hair?

Alice

i am white and i wash my hair on wednsday and on sunday.i heard that if you wash your hair everyday it washes the natural oils out of your hair. i have really bad dandruff and i was wondering if it will help my hair if i wash it everyday also whats a really good daily shampoo for dry hair (because i straighten it)
im only 12 by the way lol

Answer
Hi! I just opened an account specifically to answer your question :) so first things first.

Never wash your hair everyday, it does strip it of its natural oils and your hair will become very oily or greasy from overproducing oil to try to compensate. IT WILL END UP GETTING GROSS WITHIN THE SPACE OF 24 HOURS. You might think "that's okay if I wash it everyday". It's not, it's very bad for your hair. It will become weak and will grow slower than plastic deteriorates into the earth. 0_0

Now that we have established that, what to do about the dandruff? I had really bad dandruff until I used a shampoo called T-Gel. The only thing with that is that you feel like it has stripped away every trace of oil or moisture because while your hair is wet it's like you have to pull at your hair to move it. It's horrible! That is until it's dry! :D When your hair dries it is incredibly shiny and beautiful. I have long REALLY curly hair so trust me its not because my hair is easy.

If you find you don't like the T-Gel you can use another shampoo that I prefer mostly because it doesnt make your hair feel stripped while it's wet and it does just as good a job (maybe even better) than the T-Gel, it's called Nizoral. Some dandruff can be caused by this certain kind of (dont be grossed out but) "fungeous", and the Nizoral treats this. Even if your dandruff isn't caused by this fungeous it still works miracles. Use it as directed and then when you see that your dandruff is gone, keep a bottle anyway and use it every week or two to keep the dandruff away.

For dry hair you can wash it twice a week with (my new found love) "Herbal Essences hello hydration MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER" and then once more a week with the Nizoral and the conditioner. It might seem weird that I only use the conditioner but this pattern is working WONDERS for me. If you want you could wash your hair twice a week, once with the Nizoral + the conditioner and then another with just the conditioner.

Look, I'm really not the product pusher, everything I'm telling you is from personal experience. I have never had "emotions" lol for a beauty product before. I AM A 20 YEAR OLD FEMALE, I am not 12 and just learning about the benefits of science and research. But I have to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this conditioner. I haven't cut my hair since like May and I still haven't found more than like 3 split ends on my whole head! Plus my hair is now super soft and smooth and shiny all the way to the ends! They are as healthy as the rest of my hair!!! YAY!!! I get compliments on my hair even more now. People look at me strange when I tell them what I do but hey..it works!

By the way I don't know how much the conditioner costs cause I got it reduced because the cap is busted but I can honestly say even if it was $20 a bottle (although I think it's like 7 or 8 bucks not sure) I would still buy it cause it is so worth it! And it lasts long too it's a huge bottle!!

For straightening your hair you can use Biosilk serum afterwards. It's supposed to stop your hair from looking dry. My sister says it's expensive but that it's worth it. I barley straighten my hair now so I can't really say.

I'm sorry about the length but I wanted to be thorough and I really hope you'll try it at least for a week or two. It'll change your life!!! lol! and I don't know your tastes but the scent of the one I have is "with a fusion of orchid & coconut milk" such a relaxing scent. Love it!

Okay bye now! Good luck!

Hair falling out at hair line from the hair root/folicle? HELP?

lck'

About two days ago I realized I had a rough patch on my scalp at the hairline. it was itchy so I itched thinking it was dandruff I was scraping away but it was the white layer around the hair follicle with my hair easily coming out of my head. I have washed the area added olive oil, coconut oil and essential oils but nothing has has worked it it still rough, itchy and sensitive. I need help my mom said it cold be Psoriasis. Im a teenager and I don't want the area getting worst please help.

Answer
Stop using shampoo and see if that helps. There is a method called CO where you shampoo with conditioner, a good method for controlling scalp issues. Also I would treat it with some Cortizone cream first and see if that helps - if it truly is Psoriasis then raw shea butter would be the best.

The dry itch scalp is likely caused by the ingredients in the shampoo, they are just way too harsh.

Try switching to the CO method - it stands for Conditioner Only. Sounds weird but it works like a charm. I have long, thick and wavy hair so I switched to it mainly to calm the frizz and moisturize my hair but the added benefit was my scalp condition has cleared up completely.

Just use cheap shampoo without too many ingredients (Suave or White Rain are some good ones) and saturate the scalp and length. Massage your scalp really well then put on a towel or cap and leave it on for awhile (I do it at night and keep it on an hour). It truly loosens any dirt, oils and flakes and your hair will feel incredible.

I then follow up with Aloe Vera gel mixed in some good conditioner - massage that into the scalp and length and leave on for about 10 min.

Your hair color will benefit from not using sulfate shampoo - should last a lot longer.

Best of luck - and check out the Long Hair Community for lots of great advice and tips

Paleo diet recipies ?

INeedAnswe

Please ask around among your friends for the absolute *best* snack recipe that uses almond flour instead of regular wheat flour and contains very little sugar. I am trying to put together a "paleo" diet cheating cookbook with recipies.

Answer
Well I won't ask my friend because most likely they won't know and I am lazy too :P However I did the googling and found some paleo diet recipes. The second link I show you, their pumpkin bread uses almond flour, I will copy and paste for you from the website :-)

http://paleodietlifestyle.com/paleo-diet-recipes/
http://paleofood.com/baked.htm

Pumpkin Bread
-------------
1 cup almond flour*
1/4 cup coconut flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon high-quality cinnamon
4 large eggs
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
1/8 cup pumpkin seeds

Preheat oven to 350 F.

In a medium bowl, mix the almond and coconut flours together, along with
the baking powder, salt, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon. Set the dry
mixture aside.

In a mixer bowl, cream the eggs and the coconut oil together until smooth,
then add the pumpkin, maple syrup, and stevia. Mix the wet ingredients
until thoroughly combined.

Slowly add the dry ingredients. Mix until combined.

Oil a small loaf pan with coconut oil and then our batter into pan.

Sprinkle the pumpkin seeds on top.

Bake at 350 for 35-50 minutes. Check the loaf with a toothpick at 30
minutes. If it doesn't come out clean, continue baking.

Remove from oven and let cool for about an hour before removing from the
pan.

Let the loaf cool completely before cutting. Use a lightly serrated knife
to cut.

*You can grind your own almond flour by placing whole almonds in a blender/
food processor and blending until a meal consistency is reached.

Any good paleo cookie recipes?

Jacob W

Whenever I bake paleo cookies with almond flour, they don't tend to stay together. Am i doing something wrong or is this just how almond flour does?

Answer
I bake paleo as well. I actually have the same Paleo(ish) choco chip cookie recipe as GHL posted above. It's great. The only problem I have with it is that it's hard to spoon onto the baking sheet. It sticks to your hands A LOT.

But, I found that adding a little coconut oil to either your hands or to the batter actually makes the dough stick less and you'll have an easier time rolling it up into a ball.

Also, a tip: if you wind up using a cookie recipe (or any other paleo sweets recipe) that calls for arrowroot, use tapioca instead. I find that arrowroot gives the dessert a little more of a "dinner spice" flavor than I like, personally.

"diets don't work"...really?

LuvPinkPuf

Looking at the physical condition of the people who were in concentration camps, it appears diets really DO work.

Now, do you need 150 gallons of gas to get to the local 7-11...can you get from LA to NY on 10 bucks worth of gas?

When someone states that diets don't work for them, ask them to submit to scientific research, because science wants to know how to cure the world of famine with a metabolism that can sustain itself with no input(food). When someone can actually do that, you got a Noble-Prize!

Answer
Over 50 years of scientific evidence in the peer reviewed literature proves that...DIETS DO NOT WORK. The caloric theory of diet has been a miserable failure.

If you were a doctor instead of a jackass, you would know that and know why. Human beings aren't machines. Intake does not equal output. We are complex, SELF-REGULATING, biological systems.

Only slashing intake of food to unreasonable levels has any discernable impact over the short term (ie under a year). That cannot be maintained for very long and the person rapidly gains the weight back and more. The reason they gain back more is your metabolism immediately reduces in response to starvation (especially starvation of protein). Also, the weight is lost first from your muscle mass. Muscle is the most biologically active tissue and is responsible for most of your metobolism. Reducing muscle vastly reduces your caloric output. If you eat the same diet with less muscle mass, you gain fat. Simple as that. Yo-yo dieting (the ONLY type of dieting people who go on diets engage in) not only doesn't work for reducing weight....it makes you fat.

So. What does work? A healthy diet. The other side of the coin is someone who makes poor food choices gets fat for a variety of complex reasons. Whole books have been written on the specifics but they don't matter. What matters is that, healthy diet works, when engaged in as a permanent lifestyle change. Get most of your calories (amount does not matter) as meat and most of your bulk as fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink only water. Only eat whole grains and those in strict moderation (there are problems with grains). Don't eat fish...it's contaminated (however, a pharmaceutical grade fish oil supplement is very helpful for a healthy diet). Don't eat junkfood, fast food, processed food (pasta, tofu, most vegetable oils sugar, flour, MSG, aspartame etc.) etc. Do have olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, in reasonable quantities. Eat butter in moderation. Use salt with moderation (consider eliminating it as a condiment though). That's a healthy diet and the only diet that will cause permanent weight loss. It works by eliminating unbalanced, unnatural, non-food, foods that are the cause of obesity (over eating is definitely NOT the cause of obesity). Also. Stay the hell away from vegetarianism. It is unhealthy and makes you fat. It is downright dangerous when done incorrectly.

Exercise is helpful. However, most aerobic exercise is worthless. Engaging in 15 minutes of light aerobic exercise does help....but that is the maximum benefit people get from that. In order for more benefit, you need to do high intensity exercise (HIT ). If you want that, get a book and study up on it and use a heart monitor. But, for losing weight, it's weight training you want to engage in. The more muscle you put on, the less fat you will have, is the bottom line. Also, you can trim fat off of problem areas by building muscle there (the effect is hormonal).

great cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturiser package?

Mrs. B

hey :) im after a great cleanser, exfoliate, toner and moisturiser pack within the $100-$150 range.... i have tried the dermologica range and LOVE them however can not afford the price tag ($400 for 3 months worth, so good though). is there a similar one? something that comes in a pack with clear instructions and is easy for me to understand? i live in Australia so it would need to be something i could get from a chemist!
i made my self a deal - when i quit smoking for 3 months i would splurge on my skin and its been almost 4 months since my last cigarette so i have no problems in paying a bit more (or less) than the above price mark!

thanks so much xxoo

Answer
You are right - so many soaps, cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliating products, countless skin care, cosmetic and skin medicating products - and shampoos (they get on facial skin) are seriously skin harming.and skin sickening.- and of course premature skin aging. Even those products claiming to be organic and only natural ingredients have been found to contain hazardous skin sickening ingredients.
See this excellent site. Skin Deep Database: A Feelgood Resource. The database has tested many thousands of skin care and skin medicating brands and products and lists the ones found to be the most harming and those that are none harming or only minimally harming. Himalayan products and shampoos are listed as being very safe products.

I've had truly wonderful, fast results, simply massaging with safe, noncomedogenic, pure natural oils. Extra virgin olive, coconut, and grape seed are good. They do not clog, enlarge pores, or cause breakouts. They are only skin benefiting and feed and nurture skin with many healing nutrients. They are perfect, safe moisturizers - you will need no other. Just wipe away any surface excess with water and tissues. Will not leave face oily looking. I use only the oil and a totally pure soap with no coloring, no fragrances, no preservatives, no chemical additives of any kind. Pure soap is the only truly safe hair shampoo. Washing hair with the pure soap ended my many years of severe dry flaking scalp and hair loss caused by toxic shampoos. The oil and soap are both only modest costing and can be bought anywhere.
.
Quickly and permanently healed ALL of my many skin conditions, rid face of all blemishes, and even scars, and gave me a totally clear, healthy and radiant, glowing skin.
If thoroughly massage into skin, in just two days you will start to see clearing and it will look and feel healthier, will tighten, and look and feel much smoother. Keep using and skin will greatly revitalize, rejuvenate and develop a healthy glow. I look considerably younger than I am as a result of this treatment alone.

Many have benefited on Answers from treatment. See report below from one of them. Find many others with an Answers Advanced Search "Mukunda M. perfect flawless blemish free skin"

Coconut Oil?

Elvis

I have been reading a lot of info lately on the health benefits of coconut oil. Primarily using it to speed up metabolism and overall health. Does anyone else have any experience or knowledge about this?

Answer
You will need to get the right type. Most health food stores carry at least one brand and you can probably find it online.

There are two main types of coconut oil. One is refined coconut oil (might be labeled RBD for Refined, Bleached, and Deordorized). It is made from copra, or dried coconut meat, then treated to remove impurities. Most RBD coconut oil is relatively inexpensive. It does not contain all the nutrients found in unrefined coconut oil and in most cases the coconuts used are lof low quality and chemicals like chorine and hexane are used in the refining process.

The other type is Unrefined or "virgin" coconut oil and is made from fresh coconuts. hmmmm, sounds like the kind I would like best. I truly like coconut of anything. I want it to taste good and taste good to my dogs. I would go for the more expensive type.

Of course the better of the two is going to cost you more. Good-quality oil is colorless when liquid and pure white when solid, never yellow or pink and it should not contain residue or have an "off" or rancid odor. If you get hold of some coconut oil that gives you a scratchy throat or like a "catch" in the throat, this is probably a sign of poor quality. A smokey flavor or aroma is another indication of poor quality.

There are also hydrogenated and fractionated coconut oils. Hydrogenated coconut oil is not recommend because it contains harmful trans-fats. Fractionated coconut oil is a massage oil and aromatherapy ingredient and is sold as a cosmetic ingredient.

Can cats eat coconut oil?

Advice About Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?

Voni

I purchased a bottle of Now Extra Virgin Coconut oil a few months ago. I use it on my hair. The expiration is dated for Nov. 2013, but the coconut oil smells funny now, it smells very strong. It doesn't have the same pleasant smell it had before. I keep it stored in a dry cool place. What should I do? Should I throw it away. Is it safe to use on my hair? Is it normal for EVCO to change it's smell over time?

Answer
How badly does it smell? I have a jar that expires next month and it still smells like delicious coconuts. If it's on your hair and not for eating, I don't think it will do any harm.

Do coconut oil and Olive have the same effects on your hair?

I don't use oil on my hair, the result would make my HAIR GREASY.

Is there such thing as Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?

Diana M

I read on an article online that there is no such thing as EXTRA virign coconut oil and it is just a marketing scam to have one believe that it is better than Virgin Coconut Oil. Thank you!

Answer
extra virgin coconut oil is just the coconut oil, it's not refined. coconut oil is very very good for you. in my country [philippines] they make it from fresh coconuts.

Health benefits of coconut oil include the following:

Hair Care: Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shinny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged air. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams. Coconut oil is normally applied topically for hair care.

Stress Relief: Coconut oil is very soothing and hence it helps in removing stress. Applying coconut oil to the head followed with a gentle massage helps in removing mental fatigue.

Skin Care: Coconut oil is excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skins including dry skin. The benefit of coconut oil on the skin is comparable to that of mineral oil. Further, unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin with the application of coconut oil. Coconut oil therefore is a safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It also delays wrinkles, and sagging of skin which normally become prominent with age. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Therefore coconut oil forms the basic ingredient of various body care products such as soaps, lotions, creams, etc., used for skin care.

Premature Aging: Coconut oil helps in preventing premature aging and degenerative diseases due to its antioxidant properties.
Heart Diseases: There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats. However, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are not harmful as it happens in case of other vegetables oils. It does not lead to increase in LDL levels. It also reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and therefore helps in preventing atherosclerosis.

Weight Loss: Coconut oil is very useful in reducing weight. It contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. Further, it increases the body metabolism by removing stress on pancreases, thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight. Hence, people living in tropical coastal areas, who eat coconut oil daily as their primary cooking oil, are normally not fat, obese or overweight.

Pancreatitis: Coconut oil is also believed to be useful in treating pancreatitis.

Digestion: Internal use of coconut oil occurs primarily as cooking oil. Coconut oil helps in improving the digestive system and thus prevents various stomach and digestion related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil have anti microbial properties and help in dealing with various bacteria, fungi, parasites, etc., that cause indigestion. Coconut oil also helps in absorption of other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids.

Immunity: Coconut oil is also good for the immune system. It strengthens the immune system as it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia.

Healing: When applied on infections, it forms a chemical layer which protects the infected body part from external dust, air, fungi, bacteria and virus. Coconut oil is most effective on bruises as it speeds up the healing process by repairing damaged tissues.

Infections: Coconut oil is very effective against a variety of infections due to its antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. According to the Coconut Research Center, coconut oil kills viruses that cause influenza, measles, hepatitis, herpes, SARS, etc. It also kills bacteria that cause ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, pneumo

Coconut, Argan, or Almond!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Ryder

I am planning on doing a deep conditioning treatment for my hair and I was wondering which would be best. My hair is kind of coarse and has a lot of heat applied to it regularly. I have used Organix coconut hair conditioner and shampoo and really like the coconut, but I've heard that almond is good for growth. I am getting my hair trimmed and not applying heat on it for the next several months. Which product will help bring the healthiness back to my hair?

Answer
None of the above.
Hair products are NOT made of glue to fix, prevent, reverse hair from getting damaged, or hair loss, or make them grow . . . . they are a trillion dollar business. They also do NOT give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss caused by heat & chemicals - hair's worst enemies.

Your hair naturally produces its own oil, if you don't wash your hair frequently, the type of oil that makes your hair silkier, softer, smoother, & HEALTHIER.

I'll let YA POSTERS respond about hair mask: "i have naturally black hair but i hate it so i dye it brown + blonde highlights .. and bcuz of that it got really super dry .. i use olive oil and bunch of different oils every week ( as a hair mask ) , and they do help but not that much."
"Avocado masks are made to make soft and shiny. I made one and put some jojoba oil in it and it made my hair feel really dry after I washed it out, even before I rinsed it my hair felt like straw and it was soft before I did the avocado mask."

And one from bad hot oil treatment:
"I used a store bought hot oil treatment a week ago and the results I had were horrible. From the minute I rinsed it out I could tell my hair was in worse shape. It turned out dry, brittle, and very tangled. What can I do to fix the effects of the got oil treatment?"

And one with seriously damaged hair:
My hair is ridiculously damaged, mostly due to the fact that I've been coloring it or bleaching it for several years now. A few years ago, my hair was so badly damaged after a color reconstruction that it all broke off to about 4". Since then, it's gotten longer, and I've taken it back to the closest color to my natural one that I can get it, but it is still so broken that I don't know what else to do. I've done hair treatments, hair masks, used several different deep conditioners, moroccan oil, and I only straighten it once a week- if that. Nothing seems to be working, and I just want healthy hair again.

And yet another example:
Okay, so yesterday afternoon, I put some hot oil on my hair, to wash out in the evening. But I forgot and I went to bed with it still in. I woke up and my scalp felt really itchy in an intense and painful way. I went to have a shower, and when I stepped under it, putting my head under the water. It hurt so much. It was like my scalp was burning. I thought it would just go away, so I put shampoo on my hair. It even hurt when I touched my head. I put my head under the shower again, and it hurt even more. I din't even bother putting the conditioner in, because it hurt so much. I don't know why it's like this???

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesnât get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,â Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."

As you can see, oil (no matter which you use) does very LITTLE BENEFITS to the hair. You get 100% more benefits, if you take good care of your hair. Heat & chemicals are hair's worst enemies.
Washing less often, builds the natural oil your hair needs, to get them smoother, shinier, silkier, softer. Man-made products are just temporary, until you wash them again, and at the same time washing off the natural oil your hair NEEDS. Hair products just absorb on your hair if they're dry, like a sponge.

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-health⦠- or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.
http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/0â¦
NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

How should I take coconut oil?

Toni_Baby

I'm tryna take 3 tbl spoons a day. Is it ok to mix it with stuff? I just took it out the jar. It was thick and not good lol...Will I still get the same benefits it has if I mix it with other foods. Like yogurt or something

Answer
How much coconut oil should you take ?

Researchers state that the optimal amount for an adult is between 3 and 4 tablespoons per day. This equates to the amount of medium chain fatty acids a nursing child would consume in one day from mother's milk. It is best to use coconut oil three times a day at meal times. We recommend that you begin with a smaller amount and build up to the recommended dosage if necessary.

Coconut oil is one of the most stable oils you can buy. It does not turn rancid easily. It does not attack your arteries. In fact, coconut oil was one of the foods Weston Price studied in his journeys. He discovered that the coconut was considered, by the local populations, a medicine food. He found that those civilizations that consumed coconut regularly had no knowledge of cancer, heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes.

Letâs take a look at the healing properties of coconut oil:

Coconut oil is antiviral, antifungal (kills yeast too) and antibacterial. It attacks and kills viruses that have a lipid (fatty) coating, such as herpes, HIV, hepatitis C, the flu, and mononucleosis. It kills the bacteria that cause pneumonia, sore throats, dental cavities, urinary tract infections, meningitis, gonorrhea, food poisoning, pneumonia, and many, many more bacterial infections. It kills the fungus/yeast infections that cause candida, ringworm, athletes foot, thrush, jock itch, diaper rash and more.
Coconut oil is called the "low fat" fat. It actually acts like a carbohydrate in that it is quickly broken down in the liver and used as quick energy. It is NOT stored like other fats. It boosts oneâs energy and endurance. Many athletes use it blended into their drinks. It also supports thyroid function and increases your metabolism (great if you want to lose weight).
Coconut oil improves digestion and absorption of fat soluble vitamins, minerals (especially calcium and magnesium), and amino acids. It improves the bodyâs use of blood glucose and improves insulin secretion and absorption (great for type II diabetes). In fact, many diabetics (type I and type II) use it to reduce their symptoms. Oneâs risk of diabetes decreases with regular use of coconuts and coconut oil. And as we already mentioned, cooking with coconut oil does not create any harmful byproducts.
Coconut oil helps the body heal and repair faster. It aids and supports immune function, protecting us from a variety of cancers.
Coconut oil, contrary to much hubbub, is good for your heart. It keeps our blood platelets from sticking together (and causing dangerous clots). Regular users of coconut oils have a much lower chance of atherosclerosis (clogging of the arteries), arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), and strokes. Coconut oil can lower your blood pressure.
Coconut oil is a natural antioxidant. It protects the body from free radical damage and prevents premature aging and degenerative diseases.
Finally, coconut oil is the best massage oil on the planet. What it does to your skin, you simply have to witness. It forms a barrier against infections, softens and moisturizes your skin, and prevents wrinkling, sagging, and age spots. It promotes healthy hair and complexion, protects from any damaging UV rays.

how good is coconut oil for cooking?

Steve N

Answer
Coconut oil is full of saturated fat. Normally this statement would scare anyone off from ever considering coconut oil to be a health food.

The truth is, saturated fat has gotten a really bad reputation lately as being nothing but unhealthy for our bodies. While, this may be true of most saturated fats, coconut oil is different.

The fat in coconut oil has a unique property that actual causes it to have both antimicrobial and anticancer effects in the body. Coconut oil is also used to treat thyroid conditions and aid in weight loss.

It is a mistake to assume that every type of saturated fat leads to heart disease.

The difference between the saturated fat in coconut oil and the saturated fat in other types of food is that coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid while the rest are long chain fatty acids.

This is a big deal because medium chain fatty acids, also known as lauric acid, actually help to reduce heart disease and atherosclerosis.

Lauric acid is specifically known for its antimicrobial attributes. Lauric acid can be turned into monolaurin by our bodies, which is both anti-viral and anti-bacterial. Monolaurin also helps to destroy lipid coated viruses, which include HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus and influenza.

Keep in mind that not all coconut oil is healthy, hydrogenated coconut oil is just as dangerous to your health as other trans-fats. What you need to look for is unprocessed coconut oil in order to reap the health benefits.

In addition to the great benefits that come with using coconut oil for your food, is the nourishment you could provide to your skin by using it as a daily lotion or face moisturizer.

With coconut oil, you will be able to give your skin a completely healthy and chemical-free treatment on a daily basis that won't clog up your pores.

One brand I highly recommend is Nuvita organic coconut oil. It is USDA certified organic, and produced as extra-virgin.

Coconut Oil VS Olive Oil?

Juliiiie

Which is better.. beauty wise?

I'm currently drinking a tsp of EVOO a day, using it to take off my makeup, and rubbing it into my skin after my shower.. I notice the olive oil makes my hands dry though. I have eczema, and was really hoping that the olive oil would work out.

Is coconut any better for my skin and hair? Should you drink a bit of this every day as well?

Answer
Olive oil is beneficial because it has vit E. However, some findings suggest that vitamin e oils have been associated with allergic reactions such as eczema and that you should not use these products if you have sensitive skin. (http://www. livestrong. com/ tocopherols/)

Vitamin e has several forms (alpha, delta, gamma). More than likely if you have purchased the average suppliment, you have the alpha.

"There is growing evidence that it is necessary to use all forms to get the most benefit out of vitamin E, and it may even be harmful to use a plain alpha tocopherol since it could displace some of the more beneficial gamma tocopherols in the diet.
"Increasing numbers of good multivitamins are including vitamin E in the mixed tocopherol form so that separate supplementation is not necessary in most cases.

Coconut Oil vs. Olive Oil for anti-wrinkle/ anti aging?

Katie Holm

I used extra virgin olive oil before discovering coconut oil. I heard both are great for anti aging. I prefer coconut oil cos of its good smell.
I would like to know which one is the best for anti-wrinkle/ anti aging for skin? Extra virgin olive oil or pure coconut oil? as I only want to use one.
Thanks :)

Answer
Just applying oil to skin is going to do little or anything to prevent aging or wrinkles. The trick is in how you apply oil to skin.
A main cause of skin aging, wrinkles and lines is weakening of facial muscles with age. Massage with oils exercises/conditions face muscles and reverses the weakening. To avoid skin pulling, first tighten by opening mouth 3/4"and pulling lips firmly back against teeth. Do forward and back quite firm massage (not circular) using tips and front fingers and sometimes palms. For quickest results do 15/20 min. daily massaging. In as little as 4 or 5 days skin will look firmer, tighter, smoother, revitalized and rejuvenated. If you need more massaging information please contact me. What do coconut oil pills do? ?

Theonenonl

Weight lose?

How is Lauric Acid Used by our body?

The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia. As a result of these various health benefits of coconut oil, though its exact mechanism of action was unknown, it has been extensively used in Ayurveda, the traditional Indian medicinal system.

Supposedly olive and coconut oils daily are good to ingest. How much, and what are the benefits?

Crystal

Answer
Coconut oil lowers cholesterol if it is high and raises it if it is too low. Coconut oil is unique in its ability to prevent weight-gain or cure obesity, by stimulating the metabolism. It is quickly metabolized, and functions in some ways as an antioxidant. Every study using natural, unprocessed coconut oil found a normalizing of cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. This is also true of extra virgin olive oil, peanut oil and avocado oil.

Within a week, abnormal cortisol levels show improvement indicating adrenal restoration using vitamin B1, B complex and coconut milk. Patients seem more awake, their mood, energy and memory improves, and sleep becomes more normal.

Coconut oil is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal in the originating plant, in our gut and in our blood. Reducing seed oil consumption and using coconut milk or coconut oil as the dietary staple is reversing viral loads in HIV, eliminating all types of herpes virus and reducing or preventing other viral diseases including the yearly 'flus' and measles. The antiviral effect seems to be against lipid-enveloped viruses and is due to the presence of lauric acid in coconut oil.

In animal studies, feeding unprocessed coconut and coconut oils prevented tumor development, both malignant or benign.

The coconut oil or coconut milk must be un-preserved.

Equivalents are:

2-3 tablespoons of the unprocessed coconut oil daily.
1/3 can of the coconut milk twice a day -
(5 ounces twice a day).
1/2 coconut steeped, mashed and eaten daily

Coconut milk is not the juice from the inside of a young coconut. That thin liquid is called coconut water. Coconut milk is made by steeping the coconut and scraping out the meat, adding just enough water to simmer and mashing the end product into a thick, milky substance called coconut milk.

When choosing a brand of canned coconut milk, select the one with the highest fat content for the price

Underweight breastfed 6 mo old. ?

Happy2cu

I'm desperately trying to find ways to get my daughters weight up. She has acid reflux and is on the max dose for her weight (1.6ml *3 day). Before getting sick she weighed 13.5 and lost a pond when sick. Her doctor instructed me to try to add in tbls of butter to baby food and to use formula with her cereal. I did this for 5 days and she managed to gain her weight she lost plus some (she weighs 13.7 lbs.). However now...she refuses any babyhood with butter. I don't feel comfortable forcing it on her when she doesn't want it. I've been looking for better alternatives but am not sure what else would be good for her age. I tried alvarado (refuses). I'm just lost :( she was such a good eater before adding butter. She ate 3-5 jars a day (including cereal) and now when I sit her down to eat she just starts crying :( I've tried different butters, using a tsp. Now when i try to feed her baby food without butter she eats it but not as much as she did before I started adding the butter in. She will not take formula and I cannot pump enough breastmilk (even with a hospital grade pump). Suggestions would be helpful and if anyone knows how much fat calories a 6mo old should consume a day would help. Thanks.

Answer
How often are you pumping? To increase milk, try pumping every 2-2 1/2 hours during the day, and every 3 at night. You can also try taking fenugreek capsules (2-3 capsules 2-3 times a day), drinking Mother's Milk tea, and eating oatmeal.

All fat has the same number of calories. Have you tried olive oil (a mild one)? Coconut oil might be a good choice as well. Avocado is a favorite first food and has lots of good fat.

As far as fat calories per day, many 6 month olds are sustained strictly on breastmilk (or formula), so extra fat is normally not necessary. For some reason, your doctor is not satisfied with this, so has advised you to add fat to the diet. I think if you back down a bit with your daughter and don't make it such an issue, she may go back to liking food again. But the breastmilk will be the most important part of her diet for the rest of the first year.

how often does your 15 month old eat?

yahoo ID 8

how many times a day do you do juice? milk? water?
how many meals? is it baby food? if so what size jar?
how many snacks?

My daughter is 15 months old and weighs 15 lbs.
she is technically labeled "failure to thrive"

She has a large jar of high calorie babyfood in the morning with 5oz formula (per dr. order ), (250 calories)
a snack mid morning with 4 oz juice, (160 calories )
a medium jar high calorie babyfood at lunch with breastmilk, (apx 160 calories)
a mid-day snack with 4oz Lactaid milk ( per dr. order ) (250 calories )
dinner with us, no drink ( per dr. order ) ( 100 calories )
breastmilk (60 calories )

evening snack -

A large Jar high calorie baby food.
6 oz lactaid milk mixed with 1 TBSP coconut oil. (505 calories )

I wake her up at about 2 am and try to give her at least 2 oz formula. (40 calories)

She still won't gain weight.
she only eats that much because thats the most she will eat. At 15 lbs she is not even on the charts. She has not gained wieght in about 6 months.
hello friends - I can't even get my eight year old to eat that much in one sitting. lol

Answer
That doesn't sound like a lot of food at each meal ... my 14 month old son sometimes will eat more than I do for lunch and he's only in the 55th % for weight. He rarely has baby food from a jar these days unless we are traveling or going somewhere that may not have suitable food for him. But if he does have jar food now he will eat 2 jars per meal (veggie/meat and fruit).

His typical schedule is:

Breakfast - 8 AM

2 waffles and 1/2 banana or other fruit
Yogurt
Water to drink

Mid morning
Cup of milk
Cheese cubes or goldfish crackers

Lunch:
1/2 cup of pasta / mac and cheese or grilled cheese / PBJ sandwich
4-5 tsp fruit cocktail or yogurt
A few cheese cubes or puffies
Water to drink

2 PM
Cup of milk and sometimes another snack

Dinner:
Whatever meat we are having ... chicken, beef, fish
Peas or corn
Stuffing or potato
Yogurt or fruit for dessert
Water to drink

I've never given my son juice. He only drinks water or milk. He prefers water with meals and milk as a snack.

Maybe introducing more adult food will help her gain weight?

Good luck.

Hope this helps.

Is it hygenic to use coconut oil as a lubricant?

CoolGuy

I have been using some Jelly as Lubricant during my bedtime. Is wanted to know if using Coconut oil or any kind of natural oils is hygienic and can be used without any side effects. Expecting answers from medical practitioners or some body in Gynach field.

Answer
From my experience, coconut oil is best. It is inexpensive and widely available at health-food stores. It comes in a glass jar. Even though it is a bit solid in the jar, when it is allowed to warm to room temperature, it easily dissolves into the skin. It is harmless to the tender tissues of the vagina and has antiviral and antibacterial properties that are very helpful.

I live in a warm, humid climate, and I haven't been able to find a commercial deodorant that keeps odor at bay all day. I tried a deodorant crystal and found that it worked beautifully, but I developed a rash after I'd used it for two weeks.

Answer
I can't diagnose you because I'm not a doctor, but I can give suggestions. What you choose to do with this information is up to you.
You sound like you may have candida albicans (yeast overgrowth) issues. The chronic fatigue, the bloating, muscle fatigue, tender joints, insomnia, these can all be signs of yeast overgrowth. I am leaving you a resource (first one) that tells you how to effectively get rid of yeast. Read the entire thing and then see if it is something you want to do. Adding virgin coconut oil to your diet can also help. This is found in health food stores (unrefined only!!) A good yogurt will help.
You also sound as if you may be calcium and magnesium deficient. It is important to get enough of these two essential minerals in your system daily. You cannot do it solely on diet. It would not hurt for you to take 2400 mg of calcium and 1000 mg of magnesium daily. I buy a calcium citrate capsule that also has vitamin D in it as your body needs vitamin D to metabolize the calcium and absorb it in your small intestine or else it will pass through with no benefit. You can get all the vitamin D you need by making sure you get at least 15-20 minutes of sun (early and later sun, not the afternoon, if you can help it) daily, more if you are darker skinned (Dark skin has a harder time absorbing the sun's rays). The caplets I buy come in 600 mg each, and I take two in the am and two in the pm (breakfast and right before bed). Ditto for the magnesium. Most people are deficient in both of these minerals and in vitamin D. A blood test would tell you about your D levels.
You need to up your iron levels by ingesting foods high in iron. The second resource has a list of foods that will help with this issue.
I would also change my diet. Avoid any and all diet foods of any kind, especially diet drinks. Aspartame poisoning is a real threat (see 3rd resource). Any and all artificial sweeteners need to be taken out of your diet immediately. Begin to drink spring water, if you can ( Ice Mountain is a good brand for this and comes in gallon containers), and try to avoid tap water as it has many chemicals.
Take all highly processed foods out of your diet. This means no Betty Crocker Potatoes, Kraft Mac & Cheese, or Knorr soups. Learn to eat fresh (preferrably raw or steamed) vegetables and fruits, meats that are labeled "natural" (no growth hormones or anti-biotics), and avoid any and all foods with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) as this is too harsh on your pancreas and insulin levels.
If possible, buy your eggs from a local farmer and use these instead of the ones from the store as they will be much higher in all vitamins and minerals. Eat butter and no margarines or spreads. Avoid all vegetable oils and only use olive oil, but use this sparingly.
Replace white bread with 100% whole wheat. add more beans and whole grains (as unprocessed as possible~old fashioned oats instead of quick oats, brown rice instead of white, etc). And avoid junk foods such as snack cakes, candy bars, sodas, cakes, pies, and cookies.
Try to make as much of your own home-cooked foods as possible in order to know the quality of the food you are eating.
When eating out, avoid fast food and fried foods.
Check any and all pharmaceuticals you may be on and see what they side effects are. You'd be surprised at how much havoc these cause.
Get at least a 20 minute walk in daily and do something to relax before bedtime such as sex (if married), reading, or crosswords to tire out your brain and get you ready to sleep. Try not to sleep with the TV on or to do any exercising near bedtime as this will wake you up.
You will be much healthier if you try to change these things and you will notice an improvement in your life. If it seems overwhelming then do one item a week until you are doing them all. All it takes is 6 weeks to make something a habit. Make it a habit to live healthy.
Good luck!

If Coconut Oil says Organic, does that mean it is Cold-Pressed?

~Zebra~

Already I am wondering what gives Food Companies the right to call itself "Organic". Once upon a time, it was hard to get that label. Somewhere it has changed.

Also, is there an instance where Cold-Pressed oil is not necessary? Seems I read a certain type did not need to be....your thoughts...

Answer
Organic is the manner in which fruit, vegetables or livestock is grown/produced. Most understand that it is simply without chemicals however it also includes site-specific conditions by integrating cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that foster cycling of resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity.

Cold pressed is the manner of process usually referred to with oils but also other products. That is done by produced by pressing the parent seed, nut, or grain at the lowest possible temperature without any further pressing. They are often better for you because the heating process degrades it's nutritional value, color, and may expose them to toxins.

You can buy foods such as oils that are organic but not cold pressed and the other way around, being organic is not related to the processing, you need to look at the label to see how it has been processed.
You can read a little further here:
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-cold-pressed-oil.htm
Which also has links to various articles on different oils. I buy coconut oil for us as we are getting older and from what i have read it can really help with memory in dementia sufferers. Since we have parents on both sides of the family suffering we thought it wise to cook with it as a preventative. The unprocessed one has a strong coconut flavour which is great when cooking sausages, curries and other assorted foods however not so much with eggs or the like. It is light, easy on the gall bladder and nutritious.

Here you can buy 2 different sorts, processed and unprocessed. The brand I buy is organic... think all coconut is organic anyway as it's been grown through the ages without any but I make sure I buy the one marked virgin/expeller unprocessed as recommended by Dr Mary Newport a neonatologist, documented her husband's incredible progress with reversing Alzheimer's disease by eating coconut oil. where to buy nutiva coconut oil online?

Answer
Year ago I was think where to get it. I decided to order it online. eBay was good choice, but I choose Amazon because of cheap price.

If you go organic, you're not going to lose much if anything from brand to brand. My only suggestion is to utilize another organic oil in conjunction with the coconut oil for better results when it comes to skin and hair care. My oil of choice is almond- . The two combined are a double whammy! Hair, skin...it's a great additive or alternative in each case. The benefits are so...

How can I get flawless skin?

Emily

I'm asian. I've oily skin, quite a number of pores on my cheeks and my cheeks get really red when I'm sweating or under the sun. What can I do to prevent all those? I'm sick of worrying about my oily skin. Advice? :)

Answer
See this response I received from Feroz who had suffered from acne for 12 years and had tried countless treatments and only got rid of it completely using the home treatment given below.

"From: frz187
Subject: Re: hey Mukunda this is feroz
Message: mukunda thank you so much, im officially acne and pimple free after 2 1/2 weeks. if it wasnt for your advice i dont know what i would have done...one thing i noticed that helped me with mine was vigorously rubbing olive oil in my skin...".

TREATMENT
I've had incredible results simply massaging with pure natural oils. Oils such as extra virgin olive, extra virgin coconut are good and have been used by skin specialists to successfully treat and cure acne. They do not clog, cause breakouts and surprisingly, they lessen skin's over production of oils. Rid me of acne, reduced enlarged pores and removed all blemishes and even scars and gave me a smooth, totally clear, healthy and radiant skin.

Vigorously massage into skin (that is key to it working). Do a forward and back massage, a circular one will not work, using front and tips of fingers and, where possible, entire hand. In just two days you will start seeing results. Skin will clear, will also tighten, look and feel smoother and firmer.

Oils are perfect and only skin benefiting moisturizers. Many moisturizing products have toxic ingredients that harm and sicken and cause or worsen acne. Do not remove. Simply splash face with water and dab dry with tissue. Will not leave face oily looking.

Question about Black seed Oil?

Q. I was just wondering, which "brand" is best? I mean they are all the same right? But when I went to the shop there were many different ones such as imaan black seed oil and another one which I can't remember lol

http://www.amsons.co.uk/black-seeds/

There is a lot more than that in the shop - do you have a particular brand that you use?

Also does the rub-in ones work? I would like to buy some for my mom and use it on her back since she gets backache
BTW if you don't want the oil how do you use the actual seeds? Since the Prophet said "Use this black seed regularly, because it has a cure for every disease except death.â (Reported by Bukhari.)
So I would prefer to use the seed not the oil

Answer
Salaam

I agree with Maryam, if your going to buy the oil buy Shifa Pure Virgin Cold Pressed, if your buying the soap, buy the Black Seed & Coconut, its nice I use it.

For back ache and other muscular pains mildly heat some Black Seed oil and then stroke the affected area intensely with the oil, together with a teaspoon (5ml) of Virgin black seed oil to be drunk three times daily. Works within a few weeks, Insha'Allah.

Whole Black Seed is available at the link below, its not to expensive.
http://www.steenbergs.co.uk/product/67/nigella-seed-organic-organic-black-seed-kalonji

Whole black seed are crushed and the oil is then extracted, I have used Whole Black Seeds to make tea. I wouldn't really bother crushing the seeds for the oil, when the oil is available in bottle form.

You can make tea by simply pouring hot water over the seeds and letting the brew steep for 10 minutes, about a tablespoon makes a nice cup of tea, but it is better to keep the cup covered until ready to drink so as to prevent the aroma from escaping. Some people add a few seeds to their favorite tea or coffee.

Some of the benefits of black seed tea are:
- It helps keep your hair and skin healthy
- Black seed tea protects your body from dangerous free radicals like superoxide
- It helps support your cells and deal with BPH
- It may help control allergic reactions and support immunity
