coconut oil....which benefits your skin and hair more???

Q. to put a teaspoon on your skin ORR to actually eat a teaspoon of it everyday??

Answer
BOTH! Coconut oil (100% virgin coconut oil) is extremely great for the hair and skin, for so many different reasons. Coconut oil used as a supplement or as a cooking oil, are not only good for your skin and hair but offer many other GREAT health benefits as well. There is a lot of info about coconut oil 'on line.'

Does coconut oil really work?

Kerstin

I heard that coconut oil is really healthy for you hair, but does
it actually work?

Answer
You'll have to try it and see.

I use it everyday in my hair. You can eat it, cook with it, and use it on your skin and in your hair. It makes my hair and skin soft and shiny, and it has other healthy benefits. If you want to keep your skin looking healthy and give it a glow, put a little bit of olive oil or coconut oil on it. Works wonders. You can also use it as a hot oil treatment. You can find it in the pharmacy section of places like Wal-mart or in vitamin stores. Extra virgin coconut oil is great. Walmart sells organic, extra virgin coconut oil, which is where I got mine. You can also find it in health foods stores.

Coconut Oil for Skin?

Peace Love

So I have oily skin, but I'm very flakey in the witner which is now :( whenever I put my foundation on, it looks a hot mess because of the flakes! Ive tried several moisturizers and masks and the only one that has worked is my skinfood kiwi yogurt mask, but I don't have time to do it 3 times a week because it is time consuming. I heard about coconut oil helping with the flakiness. Is it okay to use on oily skin? How often do I use it? Thanks!

Coconut Oil?

Damian

I have been told, as well as read that Coconut Oil is the best oil to use, helps weightloss, and is the best to cook with..... but then also read its high in saturated fats, and is bad for you.

Now I'm confused!

Can I have a little more info

Answer
Coconut oil is very good for you... IF you get the right kind! You MUST get the VIRGIN coconut oil as that oil has not been through the processing that other coconut oil has gone though. The other kind is LOADED with saturated fats, where as the virgin kind has next to none. Coconut oil has medium chain fatty acids, which is very beneficial for you.

"Coconut oil is comprised of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), also called medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs.

Coconut oil is nature's richest source of these healthy MCFAs.

By contrast, most common vegetable or seed oils are comprised of long chain fatty acids (LCFAs), also known as long-chain triglycerides or LCTs.

There are several reasons to explain why long-chain fatty acids are not as healthy for you as the MCFAs in coconut oil:

LCFAs are difficult for the body to break down -- they must be packaged with lipoproteins or carrier proteins and require special enzymes for digestion.

LCFAs put more strain on the pancreas, the liver and the entire digestive system.

LCFAs are predominantly stored in the body as fat. (That's why most people buy into the myth that fats are automatically "fattening".)

LCFAs can be deposited within arteries in lipid forms such as cholesterol.

On the other hand, however, the MCFAs in coconut oil are healthier, because:

MCFAs are smaller. They permeate cell membranes easily, and do not require lipoproteins or special enzymes to be utilized effectively by your body.

MCFAs are easily digested, thus putting less strain on your digestive system. This is especially important for those of you with digestive or metabolic concerns.

MCFAs are sent directly to your liver, where they are immediately converted into energy rather than being stored as fat.

MCFAs in coconut oil can actually help stimulate your body's metabolism, leading to weight loss. "

Like I said though, you must get the virgin coconut oil. You can find it in your local health food store. Good luck!

Where do you buy coconut oil?

remy

I'd like to know where you buy coconut oil. I prefer it to be organic/virgin/raw because i will be using it on my damaged hair/roots. THANKS!

OR

if you have any other advice for having healthier roots/hair, then please tell me.

Answer
coconut hair oil can be bought at H Mart or any indian store.. actually i think publix/kroger might have it too.

other techniques:
* Shampoo regularly. Remember, a CLEAN scalp is a HEALTHY SCALP.

* Brahmi amla oil also promotes hair growth.

* A high protein diet with plenty of fruits, green vegetables and dairy products is a must.

* Drink 10-12 glass of water everyday.

* Use a very mild shampoo and condition your hair at least twice a week. When you do, make sure you rinse out the conditioner thoroughly, otherwise residue build-up will cause your hair to look limp and dull.

* Know your vitamins! IRON is important for healthy hair and brittle, limp hair indicates an iron deficiency. Spinach has a good iron content, so gulp it down!

* ZINC helps prevent hair loss and greying. Eat adequate zinc rich foods. Overweight people tend to have zinc deficiency, which is inversely related to the body mass index. Thus if you are overweight and if your hair falls too much, you may want to increase your intake of zinc containing foods. Recipes containing stone ground, wholegrain flour are rich in zinc.

* A shortfall in VITAMIN B may cause dandruff, falling hair, loss of colour and could encourage grey hair. So B group Vitamins are essential for gloss, colour and thickness.

* VITAMIN C ensures the health of capillaries supplying blood to hair follicles. Make sure your diet includes plenty of fresh fruits and veggies.

* VITAMIN E encourages hair growth. Switch from refined flours to wholemeal and wheatgerm, eggs, vegetable oil.

* COPPER stops hair from falling. Studies show that the copper content in the blood serum of people with falling hair is less than normal. Different types of alopecia (falling hair) are seen to have a deficiency of this important trace element. Include small quantities of nuts, especially cashews and peanuts, seeds, whole milk and beans in your diet as these contain minute but important amounts of copper.

Homemade remedies for preventing hair fall:

1. Apply almond oil on scalp and massage.
2. Grind fenugreek seeds in water and apply on your scalp. Wash off after 40 minutes. Do this every morning for a month ¡V if it suits you! Remember, different treatments suit different types of hair.
3. Massage warm castor oil + almond oil into your scalp gently. Wrap a hot towel around your scalp so it gets absorbed into the hair. Do this twice a week for healthy, shiny hair.
4. Add 2-3 drops of honey to a glass of water and use this as the last rinse after shampooing.

Quick Hair Care Conditioner

Mix 1 egg, 2 tbs castor oil, 1 tsp vinegar and 1 tsp glycerine. Beat until frothy and massage lightly into your scalp. Wrap your head in a hot towel, steam, then wash off. This conditioner makes hair thicker, shiny, soft and manageable.

Honey Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs (depending on the length of the hair), 1 tsp honey and 2 tsp olive oil. Massage gently into the scalp. Steam, and shampoo after an hour.

Alcohol Conditioner

Beat 1-2 eggs with 2 tsp brandy. Massage into your scalp. Leave for 10-15 mins. Rinse well. The egg nourishes your hair and brandy stimulates hair growth.

Your hair is a vital beauty asset, requiring constant loving care. And with a little nurturing, lush, glossy hair will be yours.

Is coconut oil good for you?

Lala

I've been hearing that coconut oil is good for you but I'm not sure for what nor how to use it. Any personal experience with it? Also is it good for dry feet lol
#thanksð

Answer
HEALTH BENEFITS OF COCONUT OIL
HAIR CARE
Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrients for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing it with a shiny complexion. It is effective in reducing the protein loss for damaged and undamaged hair. Research studies also indicate that coconut oil provides better protection to hair from damage caused by hygral fatigue.
SKIN CARE
Coconut oil is an excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturiser on all types of skins including dry skin. Unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin with the application â it also delays wrinkles, and sagging of the skin which normally become prominent with age.Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections.
HEART DISEASES
There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats.
However, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50 per-cent lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
WEIGHT LOSS
Coconut oil is very useful in reducing weight. As I have already explained it contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight.
It is also easy to digest and it helps in the healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. Furthermore, it increases the body metabolism by removing stress on the pancreas, thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight.
DIGESTION
Internal use of coconut oil occurs primarily as cooking oil. Coconut oil helps in improving the digestive system and thus prevents various stomach and digestion related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. Coconut oil also helps in absorption of other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
IMMUNITY
Coconut oil is also good for the immune system. It strengthens the immune system as it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties.
The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia.
HEALING AND INFECTIONS
When applied on infections, it forms a chemical layer which protects the infected body part from external dust, air, fungi, bacteria and virus. Coconut oil is most effective on bruises as it speeds up the healing process by repairing damaged tissues.
OTHER
Coconut oil is strongly recommended for other benefits which are given below. Usage of coconut oils mildly helps for the following:
⢠Liver â the presence of medium chain triglycerides and fatty acids helps in preventing liver diseases as they substances are easily converted into energy when they reach the liver, thus reducing the work load on the liver and also preventing the accumulation of fat.
⢠Kidney â Coconut oil helps in preventing kidney and gall bladder diseases. It also helps in dissolving kidney stones.
Pancreatitis â Coconut oil is also believed to be useful in treating Pancreatitis.
⢠Stress relief â Coconut oil is very soothing and hence it helps in removing stress. Applying coconut oil to the head followed with a gentle massage helps in removing mental fatigue.
⢠Diabetes â Coconut oil helps in controlling blood sugar, and improves the secretion of insulin. It also helps in effective utilisation of blood glucose, thereby preventing and treating diabetes.
⢠Bones â As mentioned earlier, coconut oil improves the ability of our body to absorb important minerals. These include calcium and magnesium which are necessary for development of bones. Thus coconut oil is very useful to women who are prone to osteoporosis after middle age.
⢠Dental care â Calcium is an important element present in teeth. Since coconut oil facilitates absorption of calcium by the body, it helps in getting strong teeth. Coconut oil also stops tooth decay.
⢠Finally, coconut oil is often preferred by athletes and body builders and by those who are dieting. The reason behind this being that coconut oil contains lesser calories than other oils, its fat content is easily converted into energy and it does not lead to accumulation of fat in the heart and arteries.Coconut oil helps in boosting energy and endurance, and enhances the performance of athletes.

Britt

Does argan oil help with hair growth?

Answer
If you combine it with a good diet and healthy living then it'll make your hair grow out healthier. Argan oil has tons of benefits for hair, more than olive oil or coconut oil. I use it and I used it when I was growing out my hair, it helped me at least. Mine I got online at beyas cuz its a heat protectant and I needed to straighten my hair too. But I still use it, just to get softer hair and help with the frizz.

Benefits of Virgin coconut oil for external health

1. Virgin coconut oil and acne or pimples

Acne is common during the stage of adolescence due to some hormonal changes experienced in puberty. One of these hormonal changes is the abnormally excessive secretion of oil (sebum) by the sebaceous glands. When bacteria mix up with sebum, then there is acne eruption.

Virgin coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids that boost the metabolic process in the body. Ingesting Virgin coconut oil can improve metabolism that enhances cell and hormonal functions. As a result of better digestion, there is regulated excretion of oil by the sebaceous glands.

Putting coco oil on your face also melts bacteria clogged up in the pores.

2. For dry scalp

Healthy scalp would mean healthy hair. Lauric acid converted into monolaurin is one of the antimicrobial properties of Virgin coconut oil. This acid is also found as ingredient in soaps and shampoo. By applying coco oil, your scalp is kept moisturized and protected from fungi that cause dandruff.

3. Virgin coconut oil for hair

Healthier and shinier hair is also one of the Virgin coconut oil benefits. To keep your hair from being dry and unmanageable, spread an ample amount of coco oil from the roots to the tip of damp hair. Do not put too much or your hair might get greasy.

4. For skin

Many people experience dry skin. Untreated dry skin can cause premature wrinkling and ageing in the long run.

A solution to this is applying virgin Virgin coconut oil as alternative to your other body lotions. The usual lotion that you use primarily contains water that easily evaporates, thus, drying your skin. Virgin coconut oil prolongs the moisture on your skin making it smooth and soft the whole day.

To add to that, Virgin coconut oil also strengthens by holding your skin tissues together and protects the skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun. The antiseptic composition of Virgin coconut oil kills fungi and yeast that cause athleteâs foot, diaper rash, and candidiasis

Eczema

Virgin coconut oil cure can also be true to eczema. Eczema, an inflammation of the epidermis, is caused by hereditary factors, allergens like dust, pets, or plant pollens, and irritants like smoke or solvents. As a result, a person experiences itching, flaking, dryness, or even bleeding of the skin. Moisturizers are very important treatment for eczema and Virgin coconut oil is best for lasting moisture for the skin. This same effect of coco oil also treats psoriasis.

Benefits of Virgin coconut oil for internal/systemic health

Maintaining a Virgin coconut oil diet is beneficial for your internal body system. Virgin coconut oil diet is done by changing your usual cooking oil with refined Virgin coconut oil and taking three to three and a half tablespoons of virgin Virgin coconut oil as supplement everyday.

The medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs) in Virgin coconut oil greatly contributes in boosting the digestive system that improve the performance of cells and hormonal secretion of glands. Also, Virgin coconut oil contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid, and butyric acid that are helpful in fighting infections, yeast growth, and killing disease-causing bacteria.

In effect are the following Virgin coconut oil health benefits:

1. Virgin coconut oil and thyroid

Hypothyroidism is a state when the thyroid glands are not producing sufficient thyroid hormones. Virgin coconut oil plays a major role in improving thyroid function.

2. Virgin coconut oil and diabetes

Diabetes is a syndrome of a metabolism disorder resulting to high blood sugar levels in the body. Insulin is a hormone that assists the blood sugar to enter the cell and be converted as heat and ener

9. Blow drying or air drying better after using coconut oil
10. Thanks !!!
How can I grow my hair out back longer??

Answer
Coconut oil won't make your hair grow, it will help make your hair healthier, but will not increase its length in anyway. If you wanted to use it as a hair mask, I would suggest warming a tablespoon or so in your hand and applying to your hair until it looks as though you haven't washed your hair in a week. If your scalp doesn't have issues (ie dandruff, itchy, ect...) don't put it on your scalp. Act like its conditioner and apply to the hair below your ears. You can leave it in for as long as you like, you can leave it in for 30 minutes to leaving it in over night. Do not use it more than twice a week or your hair will be VERY oily, especially if its thin. Coconut oil melts at 72 degrees so it will melt if your house is warmer than that. Get coconut oil that is virgin and unrefined - not processed. Always air dry your hair as blow drying it will just damage it. To get the oil out, just shampoo your hair normally, there is no need to condition it.

Should I use a Coconut Oil mask?

Jenna xx

My hair is really really dry and brittle and stringy. I just tried using Burt's Bees More Moisture shampoo and conditioner.. I can't tell if it made the situation better or worse.

My roots feel a bit greasy but my hair is extremely crunchy and dry and difficult to work with.

Would using a Coconut Oil mask fix this or would it just make my hair really greasy?

Should I continue with the Burt's Bees shampoo and conditioner if I go ahead with the coconut oil mask?

Answer
I feel your pain! My hair is very dry, brittle, "bird nest like" when I get out of the shower! Part of the reason for my terrible hair is that we have hard water. Anyway, as far as the coconut oil mask, I was also thinking of using a coconut oil mask, at one point, but I read that it can be extremely difficult to get out of your hair. And it can leave your hair looking and feeling greasy, too!
I am thinking of buying argan oil, I heard it works wonders. If you're interested, here is the argan oil that I'm thinking of getting (it's much cheaper then some brands of argan oil), it's called Acure Organics Argan Oil. $13.39 at LuckyVitamin.com.

About Argan Oil:
"Acure Organics Argan Oil is an USDA Certified Organic 100% Moroccan Argan Oil. 5 in 1 product! A true skin Super Food! Incredibly rich in Vitamin E, Essential Fatty Acids, and Proteins, Argan Oil help fight lines, repair imperfections, minimize scars + stretch marks, restore texture, elasticity and tone, and reduce inflammation. Lightweight and easily absorbed! Often referred to as "liquid gold" so get yourself some Beauty Bling!"

How to use argan oil for hair:

Argan Oil Overnight Hair Treatment â Massage a generous amount of argan oil into your hair, ends and scalp. Wrap your hair and leave it on while you sleep. In the morning, wash your hair and youâll have luminous, soft locks.

How can I make a gluten free, vegan coconut loaf?

Imogen

I tried and failed twice to make a coconut loaf cake with coconut flour and no eggs. Below is the ingredients I used.

Coconut Bread/Loaf
First attempt:
1 cup of coconut flour
1/2 cup of dessicated coconut
500ml of bottled Volvic water
1 tablespoon coconut butter
1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Second attempt:
1 cup of coconut flour
1/2 cup of dessicated coconut
coconut milk and water (indefinite amount though enough to wet the mixture so it could be whisked)
2 1/2 tablespoons of coconut butter
2 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate
4 tablespoons of vinegar
1 tablespoon of coconut oil

The first attempt didn't rise and the mixture was crumbly. I allowed it to cook for approximately 50 minutes at 200-230 degrees. The second rose somewhat however was still crumbly and tasted quite unpleasant (soapy). I let this cook for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes at 150 degrees.

I would like to be able to make a coconut bread/loaf using coconut flour without using eggs or yeast. Is this at all possible? I hope so. I was loosely following a recipe I found on a website. I have to limit my yeast intake in food and I read that sodium bicarbonate and lemon juice/vinegar can be used instead and work as egg substitutes. I didn't want to use dairy butter or margarine as I'm not happy with the ingredients in either. I struggled to find a coconut bread recipe that was both gluten free and vegan. I know I added too much vinegar and sodium bicarbonate the second time. I have little baking experience, which I'm sure is obvious. Do you know of any way I could make a coconut bread using coconut flour and no eggs? I don't want to use an egg replacer like Ener-g as I am not happy with some of it's ingredients. Would using a blender or electric whisk (neither of which I have) help with the consistency? Would using bananas work to get the right consistency? How much sodium bicarbonate and lemon juice/vinegar should I use to make the loaf rise and taste nice?

Answer
Coconut flour is tricky. It is highly absorbent, and behaves differently from other flours. I discovered coconut flour years ago when I was still baking with eggs. With eggs, coconut flour yields a result similar to wheat flour. Without them, I found it didn't respond the same.

When baking vegan, you often need to combine coconut flour with other flours. Are you able to tolerate millet flour, tapioca starch, sorghum flour, almond flour? You can combine GF flours to get great results. Buckwheat is a gluten-free seed that is not classified as a grain, even though we often use it culinarily as a grain. Buckwheat is one of the few flours that you can combine or use on its own without having to combine with other GF flours or with eggs.

My preferred egg replacement methods are flax gel or chia seed, not Ener-G Egg Replacer. Are you able to tolerate flax seed or chia seed? Ener-G can work when the eggs in a recipe are primarily there for lightness. It's not the best as a binder. You need an egg replacement that will bind, like flax or chia.

I see that you added some vinegar to help the sodium bicarbonate do its thing. That's good - the alkaline baking soda needs an acid to work and vinegar is a good source. However, you added too much. I would stick with one to two teaspoons, max.

You have very little fat in the recipe. Coconut flour is very low in fat because the coconut oil has all been pressed out already. You need something to hold moisture in or you will have an unpleasant, gritty, dry mouthfeel.

I don't see anything sweet or richly flavored in either of your recipes. Coconut flour has no natural sweetness, and you don't add any sweet fruits, nor coconut nectar nor coconut sugar. Even if you are not aiming for a particularly sweet result, you will benefit from some sweet or rich-tasting fruit (like banana) to improve flavor and mouthfeel. Avocado may give you a good mouthfeel too, without sweetness. It will replace some oil in the recipe too, and provide a very healthy source of beneficial fats.

I don't see anything protein-rich or gel-like to hold the loaf together, so it's are bound to be very crumbly. You need something flavorful and something to act as a binder. That's why I recommended banana and/or avo - both ingredients will act in both capacities. Combined with flax or chia, these ingredients will give you a better result.

This recipe
http://www.freecoconutrecipes.com/index.cfm/2010/9/13/gluten-free-coconut-flour-flax-bread
uses a lot of eggs, but it also has a lot of flax so it might hold together without them. I might try replacing the eggs with 1 1/4 cups of mashed very ripe banana to see what happens. A teaspoon of cinnamon will complement the flavor of the banana. If you need more sweetness and/or moisture, applesauce will help. You could also try skipping the sweet fruit for extra flax, like in the recipe below.

If you really want something savory and you tolerate almond, flax, and caraway (you can skip the caraway and use herbs or something else instead though) I have successfully veganized this recipe
http://www.elanaspantry.com/dark-rye-bread/

I just added a little more flax and water instead of the eggs she calls for. It is not a coconut flour recipe; it's an almond flour recipe. The amazing thing is it keeps well and it slices neatly!!! Just wait until it's fully cool to slice.

I bet you could experiment with adding some coconut flour to it, a little at a time, to see how it turns out. Substitute a half cup of almond meal with maybe a third of a cup of coconut flour to start.

Elana's Pantry is actually a pretty good resource for recipes. Even though she uses eggs in many recipes, you can often substitute flax or chia. She doesn't use any grains and bakes primarily with nut flours and nut butters, and sometimes with coconut flour. She doesn't use a lot of sweeteners these days, though in the early days she did use more agave nectar. I don't know if you use any liquid sweeteners, but you can get a different flavor but great results swapping between agave, honey, maple syrup, and coconut nectar. Date paste is a great sweetener you can make at home simply by pureeing dates with a little water.

Here's a great no-bake treat: Unsalted raw pumpkin seeds, raisins, vanilla, and cinnamon with a pinch of sea salt, pulsed together, then rolled in more ground pumpkin seeds. Simple and delicious! More raisins = more chewy and sweet. Less raisins = firmer and less sweet. Google "fudge babies" for some amazing treat ideas.

Edit: I also saw the recipe Penny cites above. I didn't reference it because a) it looks really sweet, and I suspect you're looking for something less sweet and b) it uses a purchased GF flour blend and I'm not sure what other ingredients you're sensitive to. Some of these blends contain other grains, some contain beans, and most contain vegetable gums, which I suspect are the ingredients you object to in the Ener-G product.

Why does my skin produce so much damn oil?

Fake

Why does my skin get so oily after I do my facial cleanse? I use tea tree oil, specifically this one:

http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/men-product/men-top-rated/tea-tree-skin-clearing-facial-wash.aspx?vendor=CSE_GOOG&mr:trackingCode=681FEB10-66D2-E111-8A92-BC305BEDEAD8&mr:referralID=NA&mr:adType=pla&gclid=CKjq_Zb37rYCFYHe4AodmwoAHA

Why does it get so oily like an hour later then accumulates more oil? My face feels all gross for the rest of the day, I sometimes even think why do I have this and other people have really clear skin and don't even have to be dealing with these...

I have acne, but it seems to be wearing down than before (Pimple breakout in 7th grade and had acne 'til now). I wash my face with that tea tree skin clearing facial wash two times a day, one in the morning right after and one at night right before I go to bed. It's in the genes, got it from my Mom. But really, is there any ways to stop my skin from producing so much damn oil to the point where it feels all disgusting to be making facial expressions, to touch your own face, and to not be seen with a greasy face? Sorry for the rage, if you'd just understand, I just really hate it. Can't go one day without my face feeling greasy with oil. Sometimes my friends would be like "why is your nose so sweaty" or "why is your forehead so greasy?"

Oh, and does skin chemical work? Will it prevent skin from producing oil? Like this product:

http://www.amazon.com/SALICYLIC-Acid-Skin-Chemical-Peel/dp/B00428EJXU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I just want my skin to stop producing so much damn oil! Like when before I hit puberty! Fuck you, hormones!!!

Answer
I used to breakout in acne due to oily skin myself. Genetic and Stress can affect hormones and can theoretically promote acne. Here are some home remedies that can help but do not mix them together.
1) Tea Tree Oil- An essential oil is diluted and applied topically to acne lesions.
2) Lemon oil or juice - Applied lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to face or you can drink it through using it in water a few drops a day. You can leave overnight don't expose yourself to sunlight. Will help with both acne, and scars as well.
3) Mandarin oil
4) Cedar wood â good for eczema, psoriasis
5) Lavender
6) Apple cider vinegar
7) Bamboo extract or Sarna lotion â good for rosacea, psoriasis, eczema
8) Bio Oil or BB cream for dark spots or scars
9) Toothpaste is very effective for acne leave on face for about 20 to 30 minutes then wash. Leave on to long will leave a scar.
10) Zinc really works on acne
11) 2% Erythromycin
12) Benzoin Peroxide
13) Hydrogen Peroxide 3% - It can help to dry out acne by killing bacteria on the skin. Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and apply it either to the acne breakouts on your face. You also may opt to apply hydrogen peroxide to your entire face to help prevent future breakouts. Allow the hydrogen peroxide to do its job -- wait until the bubbling stops in approximately a minute or two. Rinse your face with water. Apply an oil-free moisturizer to prevent skin from drying out.
14) Vitamin B3- also known as niacin. It promotes healthy skin, can be utilized as an acne treatment.
15) Retinoid- increase collagen production and plump fine lines, making it a good choice if youâre dealing with acne and wrinkles.
16) Sulfur- dries up pimples and keeps sebum production in check, helping to prevent future blemishes. Sulfur has a distinct smell think rotten eggs.
17) Coconut oil good for acne and scars.
18) Turmeric powder is also good for acne.
19) Neutrogena products
20) Brown Listerine also sucks the life of your acne wash after about 15 minutes.
21) Witch Hazel & Rubbing Alcohol both are good for acne
22) Aloe Vera either from the plant itself or gel apply on the acne.
23) Neem oil- good for acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin ulcers (taken either orally or externally)

This is something I use every day and I got rid of my cystic acne and my eczema. I really recommend this. Neem oil: It is powerful antiviral and antibacterial properties, beneficial to those who suffer from various skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin ulcers, helps one treat hair related problems like dandruff and itchy scalp. Dental care products like toothpaste, mouth washes and rinses all use the neem oil's antiseptic properties to keep teeth health and gums free of infection. Other benefits also include its use in household items like mosquito repellents, disinfectants and personal hygiene products. If you like you can purchase at Lucy Vitamin or in health food stores. It is the same price as some of the acne medications, either prescribe or over-the-counter.

ARMOUR LARD!! DAD VS DAUGHTER?

Gen

ok so my dad is making a dish tonight for dinner and he is putting Armour brand lard....i told him that i refuse to eat it because i dont eat fat from animals,,especially fat that comes from piggies!! hahahaha He keeps insisting that this lard is nothing different from butter. He is telling me that it comes from natural products such as cotton??, vegatables, as so on. i totally laughed when he said that....but hey he's trying.

so my dad told me to post this question on yahoo answers jajajajaja so the question is....is armour brand lard really pig fat....or does it come from natural products,,,such as cotton, and veggies,,,like my dad is trying to pull.....jajajajajajaj i look forward to your answers,,

Answer
First of you are right and your dad is also right. How can that be??
1. Lard is a combination of beef fat and pork fat. Primarily beef fat, pork fat is added for texture. Some times bacon is added for flavor.
2. The butter is derived from milk, so it is also animal fat. Chemically, butter fat is same as lard..they have same profile for Cholesterol and saturated fat.
3. As we became more aware of health, cholesterol had to go. So, they hydrogenated cottonseed oil to produce first vegetable shortening as a substitute for Lard. Later on, other oils were added specially peanut oil and coconut oil. Most of the vegetable shortening produced today use soybean oil
4. There is one problem with your assumption and your dads assumption. Vegetable shortening is all tarns-fat, so it is worse than Lard for health. For health, lard is better than vegetable shortening.
In 2007, many companies are trying to make vegetable shortening with partial hydrogenation or reducing the trans-fats
Both you and your dad are right?

Using garlic on acne scars?

Lookin' at

Please tell me all you know about this. Ive read many reviews online and people say that they're skin started clearing up in just a few days. Have you tried this? How exactly am I supposed to apply this garlic? Also, any other tips to clear up scars? (Without recommending me to go out and buy products)

Answer
Though it is difficult to get rid of acne scars completely, there are quite a few simple home remedies to lighten them:

1. Make a paste using sandalwood powder and rose water and apply this on the scars every night before going to bed. Wash it off in the morning with cold water.

2. In case your skin feels too dry after applying the above-mentioned pack, you may mix equal portions of sandalwood powder, black gram powder and milk and apply this paste on the scars. Wash it off after it dries.

3. Lemon juice acts as a natural bleaching agent. Apply this regularly on the scar to lighten them perceptibly.

4. Cucumber juice has moisturizing properties and also helps tighten the skin and make it look smoother. Apply the pulp or the juice of a cucumber on the affected areas every day to give your skin a more toned look.

5. Similarly, applying egg white on the scars also tones the skin and reduces scars.

6. Tomato juice can also be applied regularly on the scars to reduce their darkness.

7. Rubbing the pores left behind by acne with a few ice cubes for 10 minutes every day also tightens them and makes them look less prominent.

8. Make a paste using a tablespoon of fullerâs earth, and a teaspoon each of lime juice and rose water. Apply a very thin layer of this on the scars. When it dries out, apply another layer and then wait for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with cold water.

9. Massaging the affected areas with coconut oil or olive oil also helps reduce scars.

10. Make a solution by boiling a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a glass of water for a few minutes. Once it cools down, apply this decoction on the scars and leave it on till it dries.

11. Dab the scars with cotton wool soaked in lavender or essential oil twice a day to reduce and lighten scars.

12. Chop a few mint leaves finely and the crush them in a piece of muslin to extract the juice. Now apply this juice on the acne scars

What is behind this hype about Coconut Oil being good for you?

Alyce

I've come across several blog type articles about Coconut Oil somehow being the new miracle cure for everything from Diabetes to Cancer and it is supposed to help body builders and help people lose weight.

But Coconut Oil is mostly saturated fats - which are bad for your body.

Most of the articles seem to be the fake blog marketing type (like when an infomercial starts running, the company pays people to make fake blog posts endorsing the products) and I have a hard time believing them. I even read one that claims coconut oil has less calories than other oils! (it doesn't) It all seems like a way to sell more coconut oil, which people have moved away from because of the saturated fat content.

So are there any actual scientific studies are articles that confirm what they are saying? Or is it all just irresponsible marketing?

Thanks

P.S. Per the USDA one tablespoon of Coconut oil has 13.48 grams of fat and 11.7 grams of that is SATURATED FAT. When was the last time you heard any credible source recommend you have more SATURATED FAT in your diet?

Answer
You have hit the nail on the head - it's "hype". A better term than "irresponsible marketing" is quackery. Cancer preventative indeed.

does anyone know anything about oil pulling?

mommaa

i heard oil pulling is good for health. the recipe i heard about is organic coconut oil or sesame oil. a drop each oregano & peppermint oil. swish in mouth, in between teeth every day. after about a month there should be a change in health.
does anyone know anything about this practice or will i just be wasting my money on another hype?

Answer
I'm sure everyone's health changes in some way after a month... Oil pulling is nonsense. Perhaps it may assist with certain bacteria, but normal mouthwash is more effective. Beware of generalized health claims like 'should be a change in health'. It's a red flag for quackery and scams.

Different kale recipes?

Q. Different kale recipes?
I always go for salty then sugar. I know there is a baked chip kale recipe

1 bunch kale, washed and dried well
1 tablespoon olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon brown sugar

but where can I find kale chip recipe but more of a desert? I probably have to make one up.

Answer
Chocolate Coconut Kale Chips! :
http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/2011/04/chocolate-coconut-kale-chips.html
Chocolate Coconut Kale Chips:

1 bunch of kale, washed and big stems removed
1/2 c cashews, soaked
1/2 c agave/honey/maple syrup (combo of one or any)
1/3 c cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Optional and omit if you donât like coconut flavored items:

1/4 c coconut flakes (unsweetened or sweetened)
2 tbsp coconut oil

Directions:

Soak cashews in water for at least an hour (4-6 hours ideal). Remove the soaked cashews and add all the other ingredients (except the kale) to a Vita-Mix or blender. Blend until mixture is smooth to make the chocolate coconut coating. Pour this mixture over a bowl of washed, de-stemmed kale leaves and toss to coat.

Transfer coated kale to a parchment-lined cookie sheet and bake at 300F for about 20 minutes. Flip, and bake for another 10 minutes, give or take. Watch them closely because the honey/agave/maple mixture can burn quickly and itâs hard to tell with the dark chocolate color if they are burning or not. Let your nose and common sense be your guide. Remove crispy chips one by one if necessary.

You could dehydrate these chips, too, but because many people donât have dehydrators, I purposefully made these in the oven.

Could anyone suggest any low calorie crisps?

Manon

I'm generally a pretty healthy person, I try to eat a balanced diet and get my 5 a day and so forth, however lately seen as college is now over, yet a lot of my friends are still doing exams I have found myself at a loose end, and boredom/ celebratory eating a lot. As I said, I;m pretty healthy, but crisps are my ultimate food vice, so to avoid being TOO unhealthy, and getting to pudgy I was wondering if anyone could suggest any low cal alternatives? I need them to be available in the UK, seen as that's where I live, but other than that, I like trying new things, and it would be good to have a bit of guilt free eating :). Also, any low cal snacks in general would be helpful :), I'm quite a snacker :P. Thank you for your help! :)

Answer

is omega 6 bad for you? Desperate for help!?

Q. my concern is with omega 6 because I enjoy making a couple of foods that are fried.

Calimari and orange chicken.

However, I heard omega 6 has been linked to acne and several diseases

but they sell omega 6 in the vitamin section like its supposed to be good?

I dont understand,

is omega 6 good or bad?

what are some oils for frying that are low in omega 6?

Answer
It can be good or bad. It is an essential fatty acid meaning your body cannot make it and must consume it from diet. You need some omega 6, though not very much. However for optimal health you should have a high ratio of omega 3s to omega 6s. Meaning once you get enough omega 6 you shouldn't get too much more and should instead focus on getting more omega 3s. Omega 3s are in fish.

Nearly all vegetable oils are high in omega 6. Coconut oil may have less. It is well known for being heart safe in spite of containing large amounts of saturated fat. But while it's not bad it doesn't have anything especially good in it either, just a pile of calories. You can fry in it but it has a low smoke point so make sure it doesn't get above 350 degrees.

Olive oil has a 1:10 ratio of ALA omega 3s to omega 6s making it better than most oils which have no omega 3s. However it lacks EPA & DHA omega 3s. Walnut oil has a 1:4 ratio of ALA omega 3s to omega 6s and it is amazing to cook with. Both are better for sauteeing than frying though.

Is it safe to drink Virgin Coconut oil for 3 consecutive months?

Lauren

Are there bad effects when drinking a tablespoon or more of VCO for 3 consecutive months or more?

Answer
If it replaces other sustained energy foods, then there is no effect. Why are you drinking VCO anyway? It's only empty calories. You're supposed to cook with it to replace other oils so you don't get excessive omega 6s. You do need a little omega 6 though, but more EPA & DHA omega 3s (fish fat) and a high ratio of omega 3 to omega 6. ALA omega 3s, found in walnut oil and olive oil also help but these oils have omega 6s too.

So, um, cook with a small amount of walnut oil or olive oil as a 2nd choice. For larger amounts make the rest coconut oil. Eat lots of seafood. And don't start downing random things because of the latest fad without learning why first.

EDIT: Googled about using coconut oil for sustained energy and you get weight loss for that reason. Wowowow, just eat your starches. This is no different than getting sustained energy from bread. Better yet, make them whole grains to get nutrients with your energy. Studies have shown whole grains are better for weight loss too. People are getting too crazy about loathing everything normal and wanting to try the latest fad. I remember watching not too old British shows where some people were fit or getting fit on a bunch of rice and pasta, and those aren't even close to the best starches. But they have at least as much nutrients as coconut oil. No way that would fly in America anymore.

What vegetables do they get oil from?

Ruth

I have seen corn oil, and soy bean and who knows what a canola is?
I have grown a lot of vegetables but where do you get any oil?

Answer
olives and coconut oil. Canola oil is made from canola seed. Canola oil is pressed from tiny canola seeds produced by beautiful yellow flowering plants of the Brassica family. Cabbages and cauliflower are also part of the same botanical family! Canola was bred naturally from its parent rapeseed in the early 1970s. Canola, however, is NOT rapeseed - their nutritional profiles are very different.

whats so special about coconut oil that people use it on their hair? what does it do actually?

kelly

does it make you hair grow stronger or thicker or is it just to make it shine? or does it make it grow more?

Answer
Oil: olive, almond, coconut, any kinds of oil, is another form of conditioning/moisturizing the hair. It doesn't make hair grow, it makes the hair greasy/oily. I don't use them, nor do I use conditioner on my hair.

It grows from your good genes, and from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man. Almost anyone can grow hair down to their feet, if they're healthy, not straightened, not chemically treated. etc. . . .

Fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains all supply B-complex vitamins, like biotin, folic acid and vitamin B12, as well as vitamin A, copper and zinc, which are all necessary for remedying dry, brittle hair and nourishing a healthy scalp. Some prime examples of foods that contain these nutrients for healthy hair include:
·                     Folic Acid - asparagus, beets, broccoli, avocados, Brussels sprouts, beans, chickpeas, soybeans, lentils, oranges, fresh peas, turkey and spinach.
·                     Biotin - cauliflower, liver, salmon, carrots, bananas, cereals, yeast, and soy flour. Keep in mind that biotin content is reduced when food is cooked or preserved.
·                     Vitamin B12 - foods rich in vitamin B12 include animal protein (such as beef, lamb, and veal), clams and oysters, liver, fish, milk, and egg yolks.
·                     Vitamin A - butter, egg yolks, fish, fortified milk, organ meats (such as
liver), and dark green, orange, red, and yellow fruits and vegetables, which all
contain beta-carotene.
. Copper - oysters and other shellfish, whole grains, beans, nuts, potatoes and organ meats are good sources of copper. Dark leafy greens, dried fruits such
as prunes, cocoa, black pepper, and yeast are also sources of copper in the diet.
â¢Â  Zinc â beef, eggs, liver, pork, poultry, and oysters. Also is also abundant in other high-protein foods, like cheese, legumes and nuts.
If having a lush, beautiful mane of healthy hair is important to you, donât just look to hot oil treatments and shine emollients. Eat these foods for healthy hair and say âbye-byeâ to bad hair days.

"" Noticeable Skin Improvement
I have to tell you that after the 1st week of doing the Advanced Clay Detox regimen, I went with my husband for his appointment with our Dermatologist. I noticed the Doctor look at my face twice and he didn't say anything. After Bill's exam was done, I went in to see the Doctor's book keeper, she literally ran up to me and stroked my face with her right hand (something she never did before) and asked me what I was using on my skin. At first, I asked her if she really noticed a difference and she said, "Oh my, yes!!" I didn't notice any changes at the time, but now that I am 18 days into the Advanced Detox, and I have done 3 clay masks, I notice my skin is firmer and the pores are shrinking and I don't use as much makeup. â Robin M.

Love Affair with Living Clay - My Skin Tells All
You know, over the last few years I've gone through lots of different "health" products, but the clay and psyllium husk powder are the only 2 that I have stuck with this long.....because I have seen the results and they are great. I've been out in the sun a lot these past 2 weeks and I have not taken the time to apply sun screen on my face (which I need to be better about), but I have not had the first hint of sunburn on my face yet. I do believe that it is because of the clay masks. My face just does not feel as "sensitive" as it had been in the past. Another thought that I have had about the clay face masks is that the circulation to my face has improved due to the drawing power of the clay as it dries on my face and pulls the blood up. Whenever I wash off the clay my face is flushed red, which is the blood sitting right under the surface of the skin. I believe this is improving my circulation, thus giving more oxygen to those areas, thus making a healthier face. I was not blessed with good circulation. - Hallie G.

Complexion Improvement
I received a sample of the Rejuvenation Face Cream and just love it. I know that it has been instrumental in helping my skin as well! You shared a few days ago that you have gotten feedback from some who have asked that the Rejuvenation Face Cream be marketed as an "acne cream." I can see why! Just wanted to share of my experience thus far with your powder clay product. I've been ingesting an teaspoonful a day in an 8oz. glass of water in the morning on an empty stomach as suggested. I can see a marked difference in the appearance of my skin and complexion. I've been dealing with some slight adult acne which has left some mild scaring. My skin a clearing nicely and seems to have a "glow" to it. I have had a wee bit of sun too. - Cynthia J.

Genital Herpes
I was diagnosed with genital herpes one year ago and went on the usual bout of prescriptions. Every now and then, as predicted, I get a break out, not as bad as the first. A friend of mine -- who is the one I credit to turning me on to your products and a genital herpes sufferer as well, recommended that I put the clay mask directly on the sore and leave it on. I had been using Zovirax cream-- which was not helping by the way. I put it directly on the sore at night and went to bed with it on. The next day, it was completely gone. And this has happened twice. - Julia B. ""............from aboutclay dot com

Coconut oil for your hair?

My long, curly, dirty blonde hair is precious to me. After watching a GREAT youtube video by Loepsie, I have decided to invest in some coconut oil!
I found two brands at Walgreens, a common drugstore. Here's the link:

Which is better, the Nature's or Softee? The reviews on the bottom point to softee, but if anyone with personal experience, etc., could fill me in, that would be great. (:
Thanks so much!

Answer
a) What is your natural hair colour?
- I don't remember. Most likely brown, but I don't remember how light/dark or whether it was warm or cool toned. I hope to find out soon.

b) Is your hair straight/wavy/curly?
- It's mostly wavy now with some erratic spiral curls.

c) How long is your hair?
- If I pull it straight, the back is touching the last vertabre of my neck. The sides are fractions away from touching my collarbone. This is the longest my hair has been in almost 5 years.

d) How often do you get a hair cut? What's your current haircut?
- My last haircut was in July. I'm not going to cut it at all in 2014. I'm trying to grow it out.

e) Do you use hair oil? Which one? Castor/coconut/olive/almond? How often do you use hair oil?
- I don't.

f) What is your favourite shampoo? How often do you shampoo?
- I don't have one. I use one that's just alright, but it tends to weigh my hair down and I have to wash it more than I'd like. I wash my hair 3 or 4 times a week.

g) What's your age?
- 20.

I don't know what to believe but I called my dentist and since anasthesia is involved I will do second trimester.

Should I take 100mg of co q 10 or 200 mg. I am waiting for my first doctor appointment but only after I release records to myself from previous c sections.

Answer
I don't see how a deep cleaning would help irritated gums. Seems like an unnecessary procedure that would simply irritate them more.

Drink water often. Use a natural toothpaste (for example, Toms Toothpaste), gargle with sea salt and water, apply organic coconut oil to the gum and spit. Avoid brushing hard or using harsh products. Rinse mouth with water/milk after eating/drinking.

Be careful with taking supplement while pregnant. CO Q 10 is a good supplement for heart health but I am not sure how it relates to gum irritation at all. All supplements with moderation.

I would NEVER go under any type of anesthesia while pregnant, certainly not for something like gum irritation.

is 1200 calories not enough for a 14 year old girl?

Megan

i am 14,5ft,and 120:( i wanna lose some weight so how many calories should i be eating ?

Answer
Absolutly not. I ate 1200 cals a day and well....it got me down a deep hole. If you do it long enough, you can lose you period, lose hair and lose muscle. That is what happned to me. In fact, I overcounted, so I ate less than 1,000, which is NOT healthy at all.
At fourteen (I started my personal 1200 calorie cardio diet when Iw as 15) your body NEEDS more calories than the ideal adult. You see, as a teenager, you body is still develuping. Your bones are still growing, your menstural cycle is still adjusting. Dont ignore this. You might think your not the majority, but news to you: you ARE. I thought "hey, I hjave a slow metabolism, I can get away wil eating 1200 calories AND lose weight..." well I was wrong. I did have a teenage metabolsim which burns quicker. And even though I was dropping weight slowly at first, by the time I reached 113-115 pounds, I was dropping weight so rapidly than I was told to get into hospitilized care. Soon enough I had an ED (eating disorder) and it took me a while to snap out of it. I am taller than you, so 115 for me is not healthy nor does it look healthy. People kept asking me if I was sick. Plus, at my height, even if SOME girls can "pull off" 115 pounds, I have a more bigger frame and larger hips and bigger bones-I just look malnourished with not enoug weight. This all happned with starting an dinnocient diet. As a teenager, it is unsafe to eat below 1400-1500 calories ECSPECIALLY if you are active (sports, dance, PE etc.). I am 16 now and it took quite a while to gain weight back and it was a painful expeireince. I wouldnt want yhou to go through that. You might think it is almost impossible for you to to develoup and ED because you love food too much or dont think you have enough stanima to exercise enough or you think you dont have enough "willpower" to aviod guilty sacks. Well I got news for you-it IS possible. It happned to me, and no, I wasnt "skinny" all my life, either. It just goes to show you, it can happned to ANYONE. I have even heard of stories how overweight girls turn anorexic. I wasn never overweight, but I didnt think it was possible.
If you want to tone up (dont have to lose weight, honey. Dont worry about that now. You are so young and its not worth it to go through this. It will drive you crazy. Believe you me) rather eat healthy, wholesome, nutritious and drin kplenty of water. AND exercise daily. Eat: whatever gives you body benefits, wholegrains, veggies, fruit, NON packaged foods or junk foods or anything too sweet and artificial. stay away from white carbs like pastires and other baked goods and stick to the whole grain. Make healthy choices. Like for instance, have a fajita instead of a burrito, an oatmeal cookie instead of a chocolate chip..you see? Drink water, tea and milk, soymilk, coconut milk, almond milk and HOMEMADE juices (or natural/organic) dotn go for the high sugary ones. Avoid soda and other liquid calories. Consume more lean proteins like lean chicken and meat and tofu. EAT NOT fried foods or anything tha you know has been dipped in too much oil. Stick with olive oil as you source of geed fats (yes, you need to eat fats!)<---but healthy ones like nuts, olive oil and peanut oil.
And exercise about 30 min a day. Do what you like, dont make it a chore. Dance, bike, jumprope, soccer or whatever...just get moving. But dont over do it. You brain needs exercise, too ;)

over all, if you eat healthy, life a healthy lifestyle and drink lots of water and consume no processed junk, you are good. read ingredients, the more the prodict has, the less healthy it is (it is found under the nutrition info on teh packaged product) Tell you family yuou sole decesion to eat healthy. It is alifestyle change, not a "diet". And dont worry, be happy, love!

I want to add healthy fat to this diet with olive oil, how much should I add?

uscgvet

So I'm eating a lot of beans and rice, salad, green veg, yogurt and fruit. It has almost no fat, maybe just a little in the salad dressing, not enough. So I thought of adding some olive oil into the beans and rice. How much should I add per serving? Thanks.

Answer
@phil
Beans rice & grains are largely devoid of fats, the average person needs 45+g of fat to be healthy. A bean+rice+grain serving would provide i would say at most <5g of fat. There is a reason these foods that are a large part of a vegetarian diet are touted as ways of reducing fat intake & lowering cholestrol as the benefit of eating them, because they are not high in fat at all.

OP add about a tbsp, you may want to watch the calories in olive oil it is extremely high (about 120 cals). But other than that it is fine, alternatively you can eat avocados eggs nuts coconuts etc.

Adding in Coconut Oil for my Diet Plan to Lose a Little Weight?

freedomjdm

I was wondering if it is a good idea to add in coconut oil to lose around 7-8 pounds? I plan on exercising 4 days a week for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes with a mix of cardio and weight lifting.

Answer
Yes!! definitely! coconut oil has wonderful benefits. It is an essential fatty acid ( a good fat). But it increases the rate of your metabolism and so aids with the burning of bad fat along with your exercise. Coconut oil has soooo many health benefits I wouldn't know where to begin! And so I will add a few links that will explain it better than I could.

One big thing is to make sure that the coconut oil is:
-virgin
-unrefined
-non-hydrogenated
-not bleached
-not deodorized
- and if possible organic

A good brand that is all of these is from the company Garden of Life, their Virgin Coconut Oil is delicious and smells heavenly.
Other brands that I've heard good things about are: Nutiva, Tropical Traditions, and Alpha.

Coconut Oil Diet (Health Support)?

Sono Calda

recently bought a bottle of Health Support Coconut Oil Diet (Natural Wieght Loss Support). I was wondering if these really work or not? Would they cause you to gain any weight? What can I expect with them?

Answer
No idea what Health Support Coconut Oil is, but many people have reported the health benefits of coconut oil.

But you will need a good quality oil (i.e.) raw, unrefined, cold pressed 100% virgin organic oil

You may lose weight on the coconut oil diet but you canât remain on it forever, so once you go back to your bad food habits, the weight will eventually return.

The only real way to lose weight and (more importantly) keep it off long term, is to make permanent changes to your lifestyle.

(i.e.) healthy high fibre low fat meals, plenty of water, limiting alcohol, avoiding junk, and by following a regular exercise routine.

coconut oil......????????

how do i do the coconut oil treatment?
How Do i make the solid coconut oil into a liquid?
& also, if i need to boil it with water should i use rose water?

also, any benefits?

Answer
All you need to do is run the bottle under really hot water, so it doesn't matter what type of water you use. Of course, you have to make it into a liquid in order to put it in your hair.
How the treatment works;

There are several ways you can do it, but all ultimately do the same thing, which is let the oil soak into your hair. Depending on the thickness of your hair, you use more or less. If you have thick hair, use a little less than a palmful. If you have thin hair, you may just need a quarter sized drop or so.

Spread in on your hands, and first, rub it into your ends, and then, massage whatever remains after that into your scalp. don't overdo it, but make sure to still use enough, so that your hair feels slightly silkier. Then, all you do is comb your hair through to distribute it evenly, and to detangle your hair.

Do this either the night before you wash your hair, as it will soak in by morning, and you can wash it out. Or, put it about 2 hours prior to showering, and work up some heat, either by working out, or hairdrying it while you have a towel on. I prefer just leaving it overnight.

Benefits:
-It will retain moisture lost in your hair from washing it out with shampoo, which is why you apply it prior to washing hair.
-It makes your hair softer and silkier
-It works as a detangler
-It gives your hair the nourishment it needs, reducing chance of split or damaged ends
-Protects hair against UV rays(sun)
-It will not irritate your hair

Cons:
-Strong smell, so don't put too much
-Can make hair greasy if over applied
-Does not work as a heat protectant(ironing hair)

But it is some really good stuff, so long as you use it properly. So definetely use it, unless you straighten or curl hair everyday.

And although using it before hair washing is it's best use, it works wonderfully as just a daily routine, for conditioning hair. However, if you choose to do this daily, do not put more than a quarter sized drop for thick hair, and less for thin hair.

(10 points!!) coconut oil ?!?!?

teebaby

what are the benefits of it for your hair and trying to maintain weight?
and where can you buy it in pennsylvania?
thanks

Answer
The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength.

Hair Care: Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams. Coconut oil is normally applied topically for hair care.

Weight Loss: Coconut oil is very useful in reducing weight. It contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. Further, it increases the body metabolism by removing stress on pancreases, thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight. Hence, people living in tropical coastal areas, who eat coconut oil daily as their primary cooking oil, are normally not fat, obese or overweight.
