New to pregnancy helpful tips?

Dottie

So just recently found out I was pregnant. I'm about 6 weeks, I quit using my face wash bc of what's in it. So basically tips for keeping a clean healthy face? My face as just seemed completely dried out this past week. Thanks!

Answer
There are a lot of natural ways to take care of your skin if you are looking for ways to cleanse and hydrate without using chemicals. You said that your face has dried out this past week; I would try using some coconut oil. Coconut oil is amazing and does so much besides hydrating skin! Use it as lotion, chapstick, make-up remover, moisturizer, hair de-frizzer, etc. There are lots of benefits to consuming it and using it on your skin.

I found a website that lists over 100 uses. This is just one but there are tons of others out there with even more information: http://wellnessmama.com/5734/101-uses-for-coconut-oil/

Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy!! Wishing you the best. :)

How painful is it to lose your virginity?

...

I'm getting married in a couple of months. My fiancé is great! He says we'll take it slow. We plan on forplaying a lot obviously and using the appropriate lube etc but that's not my concern. I'm really worried about the pain. I've heard horror stories and I honestly dont want to spend my honeymoon sore for a week or continuously spotting if I end up bleeding.

I'm 20 now and I have never used a tampon. Every time I tried it just hurt really bad so I gave up in the end and started using pads. At first I thought I was inserting it wrong but that wasn't the case. So I took a mirror to have a better look down there and I literally could not even find my vaginal opening. I've seen diagrams. So I know where my anus is and I found my clitoris, but I think my hymen is completely shut! From what I read, they say that's impossible since anyone with a period will obviously have to have some sort of flow. So I'm guessing I just have a microperforate hymen and the opening might just be too small to see. I've tried stretching it with my fingers by just feeling around since I couldn't find it in the mirror but even that hurt.

My fiancé tells me not to worry about it. He says it'll naturally tear on our wedding night and he will find it for me. I wont even let him finger me because it hurts too much and I want to enjoy the rest of our honeymoon without being in pain. Should I go to the doctors and just have them tear it for me? Maybe it'll be less painful? Anyone else have this issue?

Please don't tell me I need more foreplay. He turns me on a lot and has been very patient with me for literally hours at a time. I can feel myself get wet and I'm madly in love. Just really annoyed :(

Answer
You're guessing?
It is possible that you have a hymen that is covering your vaginal opening more than normal, you need to explore your genitals more so that you KNOW - this is your body, the idea that you don't know it well enough to identify basic parts of your anatomy by your age is very concerning, even if your hymen is in tact you'd still be able to identify your vaginal opening and the hymen itself. Spend more time exploring your body, and with your partners help too.

Go to your doctors to confirm if this is the case, hymens can normally be stretched slowly over time using lubrication like coconut oil or olive oil and gradually inserting larger items, but if yours is particularly tough it is best to have it surgically cut. There's no reason to keep your hymen in tact and have your partner HURT YOU during the first time you have sex - sex is supposed to be pain-free and pleasurable every single time, and your partner is being a bit of a jerk suggesting that you shouldn't worry about it and risk being in pain for his benefit!

Bare in mind that pain during sex the first time is rarely anything to do with the hymen - most women's hymens are worn away, stretched, or torn by the time they have sex, or simply aren't an issue because they don't cover much of the vaginal opening. Pain during first intercourse, as with any time you have intercourse, is most commonly down to lack of arousal (when aroused the vagina lubricates, relaxes, opens, and increases in size) or a woman tensing-up.

benefits of coconut oil???

Does the coconut oil from costco good for the face?

coconut oil for acne ???

love2last

i love virgin coconut oil its great for so many things.. i understand how it can moisterize and help with wrinkles but help with acne ?? how can an oil help with acne ?

Answer
Coconut oil naturally has antibacterial and antifungal fatty acids, such as caprylic acid and lauric acid. I think its great for dandruff, and its effect at preventing and removing existing dandruff is likely to be via the inhibition of pro-dandruff organisms on the scalp. So I would have thought equally, it may have some anti-acne effect by inhibiting pro-inflammatory/pro-acne micro-organisms at the skins surface/pore entrance. Its also a great hair softener, can kill head lice and has great moisturising properties. Its great for coooking with, and good for health - for keeping gut fungal organisms at bay. Plus lots more benefits if you go and do the research.

Its worth trying.

Uses and types of Coconut Oil (Cooking or Body Use)?

Sapphires

I have been hearing there are a lot of different uses for coconut oil other than for cooking. I was wondering if there is 2 different kinds of coconut oil, such as one for cooking and one for your body? Or is there just one type and you can use it for cooking and for your body? I have heard of people using it in their hair, as a skin moisturizer, on cuts and scrapes, etc.....

Answer
* Head lice. Developing research shows that a spray containing coconut oil, anise oil, and ylang ylang oil appears to be effective for treating head lice in children. It seems to work about as well as a spray containing chemical insecticides.
* Psoriasis. Applying coconut oil to the skin before treatment of psoriasis with ultraviolet B (UVB) or psoralen and ultraviolet A (PUVA) light therapy doesn't seem to improve effectiveness of the treatment.
* Heart disease. A study in India suggested that eating coconut or taking coconut oil doesn’t seem to affect the chances of having a heart attack or developing chest pain (angina).
* Weight loss.
* High cholesterol.
* Diabetes.
* Chronic fatigue.
* Crohn's disease.
* Irritable bowel syndrome.
* Thyroid conditions.
* Other conditions.

More evidence is needed to rate the effectiveness of coconut oil for these uses.

Coconut Oil and Dogs?

Lycanthrop

Does anyone add coconut oil to their dogs food? I just started adding some to my Labrador's today - along with the usual Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and a little bit of plain yogurt. If you use it for either yourself, or your dog - do you prefer it solid or liquid? We're testing it out on Brady to see if it helps with his coat, etc. Just looking to see if others use it.
We have used several fish oils for him, but apparently he has an intolerance to fish and chicken - so when we got no results after 3 months, we stopped with the costly fish oil. Usually, ACV and Kelp get the job done - but I've started Coconut oil considering I've heard great things, and it's significantly cheaper than kelp.
Coconut Oil is Liquid at Room Temperature (I Believe above 73 degrees F). You can find that information anywhere. So generally, depending on the temperature of your house - it could be solid of half solid/half liquid. Our Organic Coconut Oil is liquidish right now because it's quite warm in my house (Summer heat). So I just plopped it in the fridge because I like the solid form better.
It took my forever to find Coconut oil to begin with, and the only virgin version I found was flavored and had all this extra stuff in it. So we went with the Organic Coconut Oil. Let me find the link to the company.. (There was a woman at the store the same time as me who works at a Holistic Pet Store and recommended this particular kind - are there any ill side effects from not using Virgin?):
http://www.omeganutrition.com/products-gourmet-coconut.php
He's allergic to chicken and most (if not all) grains. I have the list somewhere, and he's also partially intolerant to potatoes (which was why we were seeing yeast infections - despite the change in grain free diets). I'm switching off of the Orijen onto the INSTINCT Salmon Meal (New formula) Which is grain and potato free, with no chicken. Everything should clear up then - but until it's available in my area, I'm just looking to make him comfortable. He's already shown great improvement - but I just want the best.

Vet wanted to put him on a Hill's Prescription Diet with allergy shots - I said hell no - if he has allergies, he just won't get food with the allergens in it. It took my awhile to find a grain-free food without potato, but hopefully all goes well. Thyroid testing was normal.
Also, the moment I get back from Finland (I'm a high school student going on exchange in two weeks for the next six months) he will be on a raw diet. We tried this some months ago, but just couldn't keep up with it. But the moment I get back - we're on the raw diet. (My mother refuses to feed raw without me doing it, and doesn't want to learn how to properly feed it - therefor, we've been searching for a decent kibble).

Answer
Coconut oil should NOT be liquid all the time. It will solidify at temperatures under 72F. This is normal.

Is there a reason you are using ACV and other things on this dog?
Are there skin issues going on?
If so, have you had the dog to the vet for a diagnosis?
This would be the first thing I would do - find out why my dog is having problems.
Do we have a thyroid issue? Is there some other reason my dog is doing poorly enough that I feel the need to try alternative 'medicine' on him?

Edit: In light of your answers to my questions, I think you are doing just fine with your dog. As of now, I don't know of any reason coconut oil could not be used on your dog. It has not been shown to cause toxicity unlike grapes/raisins.
You seem to be very knowledgeable about your dog's health issues. This is all good.
I have a cat that is allergic to chicken, too. Unfortunately, cats are much more picky eaters than dogs. I have run the gamut of things to feed her. I did try the raw diet - she puked it. She is 14 years old now and I am running out of things to feed her. She eats them for awhile then refuses to eat it anymore. I am at the point of euthanizing her if she refuses to eat the food she is on now.

can I put coconut oil on my dog?

Aevon

Is there a certain type of coconut oil to put on him?My dog has fleas and I really want him to have a more healthier shiny coat. Also, can I feed him some? I have a 5 month black chihuahua

Answer
First, you need to use something like Frontline for fleas. Secondly, the best thing for a beautiful coat is Omega 3 capsules and olive oil in their food. It does two things.....protects the joints and provides needed nutrients in the diet. As well, hope you are feeding a good quality dog food....Purina, Beneful, Pedigree, AREN'T anything you really wish to feed.

Look on this list and see where your dog food is.

http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com
/dog-food-reviews/dry/

copy and paste in your browser. As well, consult a vet. Our dogs get olive oil...just a little, and one capsule twice a day of Omega 3. Their coats glisten, soft and shiny. They both are pictures of health. We fed the puppy Blue Buffalo Puppy when she was a little one, and now both are on Blue Buffalo Freedom.... no grain. You don't want grain in your dog's food.

Is coconut oil healthy for you?

John B

Answer
Coconut oil is the healthiest vegetable oil ever because of its anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-viral property. It is widely used in south and southeast asian cuisine and medicine.
coconut oil ma be high in saturated fats. but saturated fats in coconut oil is different from saturated fats from the animals. It is has saturated fat which are called Medium Chain Triglycerides or MCT which is sent to our liver as energy so it doesn't contribute to weight gain. Medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also speed up the body’s metabolism, burning more calories and promoting weight loss.

coconut oil(virgin) is useful for people who are suffering from certain diseases like skin diseases, hearth diseases, cancers and AIDS. Studies conducted in the Philippines last year showed that coconut oil does indeed reduce the viral load in AIDS patients.

coconut oil is also the best cooking oil because it has very low polyunsaturated fatty acids. most of the vegetable oils like soybean oil and olive oil have healthy chemicals on the but not applicable for cooking because those healthy chemical maybe destroyed by heat and turn into unhealthy chemicals which causes certaind diseases and cancers.

contain omega 6 fatty acids and no omega 3 fatty acids. We need Omega 3 and Omega 6 in our diet but the problem is we get too much omega 6 fatty acids but we we don't get the right amount of omega 3. the ideal ratio should be 1 omega 3 fatty acids to 1-4 omega 6 fatty acids(1-4:1). But modern western diet has average of 1 omega 3 fatty acids and 40 omega 6 fatty acids(1:40). However most of the fats fount in coconut milk are mostly saturated and monounsaturated fats. Unlike commercial vegetable oil which is mostly omega 6 fatty acids. 1 tablespoon of coconut oil contains only 250mg of omega 6. and one cup of coconut milk has 2.5 tablespoon of coconut oil. and it is easily balance by 1 sheet of nori/seaweed which contains 300mg of omega 3 and almost no omega 6.

try my recipe a recipe here.

Ingredient

1cup of coconut milk.
1 tsp of coconut oil.
3 tsp chopped ginger
2 cup of chopped string beans or broccoli
1/2 cup of chopped bell pepper
2 nori sheets(sushi wrapper) cut into desire size
salt and pepper.

procedure

1. Saute ginger in coconut oil.
2. Saute all the vegetables.
3. Pour the coconut milk and let it simmer.
4. put salt, peppr and nori sheets
5. ready to serve.

coconut oil benefits?

Halle S

hey guys if you have used coconut oil can you tell me something about the below things? thanks so much??

~Hair &skin
~tanning
~weight loss
~firming skin

thank you SO much!!! also, can you tell me how to take the oil (not the capsules) if you cook with it (instead of using oil/butter), does it effect the taste of what you are cooking with?

thank you guys!!!!

Answer
Coconut oil doesn't add much of a taste to food, but adds a dreamy, sweet smell. It's great for tropical dishes! However, it is mostly saturated fat, so should be used in moderation. Certainly it is not a weight loss supplement. In one serving there are 14g of fat, 12.5 of which are saturated! Olive oil or vegetable oil would be a healthier alternative.

As for hair and skin, it's great for both. I use it as a facial and body moisturizer once a week and it works wonders even on sensitive, dry skin like mine. As for firming skin, I have not seen any research, but most research on cosmetic issues like that are completely unreliable anyway. Having fat in your diet is good for your hair, but applying it straight to your hair will leave it greasy.

Tanning....well, I don't tan ( counterproductive to the skin health issues) so I can't say.
Hope that helped a little :)

Coconut Oils?

I've been reading alot about the benefits of coconut oils (for cooking, applying to your skin and hair, etc.). I have been looking at several websites that explain everything about the oils and different types, which is the best, etc., however there are so many brands with huge price differences. Can anyone recommend a brand that you find works well and lives up to its promise? If you use it, what benefits do you think it has from personal experience? I know it is good for the skin outside, but supposedly it's good for many, many things, internally and externally. Thank you everyone!!
Also, which is better...virgin or extra virgin coconut oil?
thank you so far for the links, most of those i have read. I appreciate your help so far, but I am interested in hearing from people who are using it and what benefits they see and feel from it.

Answer
Virgin Coconut OIl or VCNO is all you need if it's a good brand.

It's incredible stuff. It definitely gives me more energy and in cooking it gives foods a great taste. Also if you fry with it it doesn't taste greasy.

Since frying can use a bit of it I use the Organic Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil. It doesn't smell quite as good but works fine for frying and is cheaper.

You have not lived until you've tried onion rings made with it. Not greasy at all and incredible!

It works great in baking except being a little soft for some recipes (especially in summer ) because it melts at like 74 degrees. If that's an issue just use 1/2 vcno and 1/2 butter.
The only thing I haven't cared for with it is scrambled eggs. It gives them a bit of a soapy taste but it's great in hot cereal, makes an soup creamier and better tasting and gives me energy

These are the guys I use. They are the experts and the original importer of it. They also use family farms (in Phillipines) and have been a pleasure to deal with.
They also have good sales.

Lip sugar scrub help?

Peace Love

last week i use a sugar scrub on my lips. it's been rubbed raw since. ive used vaseline and various chapsticks and nothing is working! please help. thanks!
made mine out of honey and white granulated sugar

Answer
Wow, I use a sugar scrub on my lips everyday! Except I make mine using brown sugar, honey, olive and almond oil...was this scrub you used natural or not, it seems like it had chemicals in it?

My first thought would be Vaseline, even though it's not the most natural. I would try coconut oil as it's more moisturizing than olive oil. Also Eurcerin's cream is SUPER thick and I apply that on my face, and some gets on my lips and keeps them moisturized. Eucerin, also makes a cream called Aquaphor. If you can't find any of these on your drugstore shelves, just go up to the pharmacy and ask, usually they have them stocked there. If you don't want to buy a big tub, usually they can give you free samples...good luck!

Why does my skin produce so much damn oil?

Fake

Why does my skin get so oily after I do my facial cleanse? I use tea tree oil, specifically this one:

http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/men-product/men-top-rated/tea-tree-skin-clearing-facial-wash.aspx?vendor=CSE_GOOG&mr:trackingCode=681FEB10-66D2-E111-8A92-BC305BEDEAD8&mr:referralID=NA&mr:adType=pla&gclid=CKjq_Zb37rYCFYHe4AodmwoAHA

Why does it get so oily like an hour later then accumulates more oil? My face feels all gross for the rest of the day, I sometimes even think why do I have this and other people have really clear skin and don't even have to be dealing with these...

I have acne, but it seems to be wearing down than before (Pimple breakout in 7th grade and had acne 'til now). I wash my face with that tea tree skin clearing facial wash two times a day, one in the morning right after and one at night right before I go to bed. It's in the genes, got it from my Mom. But really, is there any ways to stop my skin from producing so much damn oil to the point where it feels all disgusting to be making facial expressions, to touch your own face, and to not be seen with a greasy face? Sorry for the rage, if you'd just understand, I just really hate it. Can't go one day without my face feeling greasy with oil. Sometimes my friends would be like "why is your nose so sweaty" or "why is your forehead so greasy?"

Oh, and does skin chemical work? Will it prevent skin from producing oil? Like this product:

http://www.amazon.com/SALICYLIC-Acid-Skin-Chemical-Peel/dp/B00428EJXU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I just want my skin to stop producing so much damn oil! Like when before I hit puberty! Fuck you, hormones!!!

Answer
I used to breakout in acne due to oily skin myself. Genetic and Stress can affect hormones and can theoretically promote acne. Here are some home remedies that can help but do not mix them together.
1) Tea Tree Oil- An essential oil is diluted and applied topically to acne lesions.
2) Lemon oil or juice - Applied lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to face or you can drink it through using it in water a few drops a day. You can leave overnight don't expose yourself to sunlight. Will help with both acne, and scars as well.
3) Mandarin oil
4) Cedar wood – good for eczema, psoriasis
5) Lavender
6) Apple cider vinegar
7) Bamboo extract or Sarna lotion – good for rosacea, psoriasis, eczema
8) Bio Oil or BB cream for dark spots or scars
9) Toothpaste is very effective for acne leave on face for about 20 to 30 minutes then wash. Leave on to long will leave a scar.
10) Zinc really works on acne
11) 2% Erythromycin
12) Benzoin Peroxide
13) Hydrogen Peroxide 3% - It can help to dry out acne by killing bacteria on the skin. Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and apply it either to the acne breakouts on your face. You also may opt to apply hydrogen peroxide to your entire face to help prevent future breakouts. Allow the hydrogen peroxide to do its job -- wait until the bubbling stops in approximately a minute or two. Rinse your face with water. Apply an oil-free moisturizer to prevent skin from drying out.
14) Vitamin B3- also known as niacin. It promotes healthy skin, can be utilized as an acne treatment.
15) Retinoid- increase collagen production and plump fine lines, making it a good choice if you’re dealing with acne and wrinkles.
16) Sulfur- dries up pimples and keeps sebum production in check, helping to prevent future blemishes. Sulfur has a distinct smell think rotten eggs.
17) Coconut oil good for acne and scars.
18) Turmeric powder is also good for acne.
19) Neutrogena products
20) Brown Listerine also sucks the life of your acne wash after about 15 minutes.
21) Witch Hazel & Rubbing Alcohol both are good for acne
22) Aloe Vera either from the plant itself or gel apply on the acne.
23) Neem oil- good for acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin ulcers (taken either orally or externally)

This is something I use every day and I got rid of my cystic acne and my eczema. I really recommend this. Neem oil: It is powerful antiviral and antibacterial properties, beneficial to those who suffer from various skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin ulcers, helps one treat hair related problems like dandruff and itchy scalp. Dental care products like toothpaste, mouth washes and rinses all use the neem oil's antiseptic properties to keep teeth health and gums free of infection. Other benefits also include its use in household items like mosquito repellents, disinfectants and personal hygiene products. If you like you can purchase at Lucy Vitamin or in health food stores. It is the same price as some of the acne medications, either prescribe or over-the-counter.

Answer
Coconut oil helps the body burn stomach fat, if that is your problem:

"Benefits of Organic Unrefined Coconut Oil"
- "Despite its saturated fat content, unrefined, organic coconut oil may contribute to a slimmer midsection. In a study published in a 2009 issue of the journal Lipids, researchers had 40 overweight women consume 30 ml of either soy bean oil or coconut oil daily in addition to a low-calorie diet and light exercise. After 12 weeks, those consuming coconut oil experienced a decreased waist size and no adverse affects on their cholesterol levels."

I recently saw an exercise for the abdominals that was new to me... You stand in about 3' of water, and hold a child's first --& very fat-- bat in both hands, laying flat just under the water's surface. Then, you swish it back & forth from one side to your other side, keeping it in the top inches of the water at all times.

Jamaican black castor oil for hair growth?

Alexis

Has anyone tried this on their hair?? What are the benefits? Does it make hair grow fater? Any personal experiences will be well appreciated!!

Answer
Lavender oil - It is a popular oil for hair growth. It has been proved that application of
lavender oil on regular basis has a significant effect on the growth of hair.
Jojoba oil - This hair oil can be used if your hair type is dry. Jajoba oil will help to moisturize your dry hair when applied on regular basis. It can also be used before shampooing your hair to get a tangle free soft hair.
Olive oil - Olive oil when applied on regular basis helps to strengthen your hair and improve the hair quality. This is because it helps to reduce the stress and also provide elasticity to your hair.
Castor oil - Commonly used for hair growth. However this oil is very sticky so it can also be used in combination with other hair oils like coconut oil or almond oil for best results.
Coconut oil - Coconut oil is commonly used for dry and damaged hair as it provides appropriate lubricant. The different nutrients in coconut oil like calcium, iron, potassium and magnesium provide good nourishment for the hair.
Rosemary herbal oil - This oil is commonly used for flaky unwanted dandruff on the scalp.
Almond oil - Almond oil helps to repair and strengthen your hair

How do you make a personal lubricant?

xbdarkxcuf

Does anyone know any ways to make a good personal lubricant? I mean there has to be a home made version somewhere right? I tried yahoo search but nothin....anyone have any ideas?
let me be more specific....a personal lube u can use during sex, so baby oil, crisco, water and saliva aren't the greatest options. Saliva and water are the best though except that water doesn't lubricate very well and saliva can cause urinary tract infections in girls
k..let me add a lil more info....everyone who is sayin "get her excited" you do realize that there are a lot of girls whose bodies don't produce a whole lot of "natural lube"

Answer
1.Heat these together: 1 level tsp. sodium alginate and 1 cup water in a covered non-metal pan until completely dissolved. Use very low heat and stir with a wooden spoon handle. It takes a fairly long time to get it perfectly smooth. After cooling, pour into a small dispenser bottle. Keep the remainder refrigerated.

2.Mix and heat 4 tsp. cornstarch and 1 cup water until completely dissolved in a covered saucepan. Use non-metal dishes and a non-metal stirring spoon. Once it has reached a boil the contents should become more viscous and somewhat resemble the consistency of gelatin. Remove from the stove. Allow the solution to cool at room temperature. DO NOT PUT IT IN THE REFRIDGERATOR OR FREEZER!!! It will cause the solution to form a skin that is a lot harder than the rest.
The finished product should jiggle like jello. Pour some into dispenser bottle. Refrigerate remainder.

P.S.

Oil-based lubricants, such as Vaseline, dissolve latex and are likely to reduce the effectiveness of latex condoms.

Oils tend to heat up with the friction and you might end up with inflammated *you know what*. Use something water based, aloe vera herb is easily washable, try it.

Lubricants containing glycerin may cause or exacerbate vaginal yeast infections in persons who are susceptible.

Vegetable-based oils like rice bran oil or coconut oil,may cultivate pathogens.

Ginger is a warm, peppery and spicy stimulant, not a lubricant.

Helpful Hints For Treating Dry Vaginal Walls
Drink at least two quarts of water and/or herbal tea every day.

Exercise the PC muscle (pubococcygeus) or Do Kegel Exercises

One of the fringe benefits of using soy isoflavones with genistein and daidzein, aka phytoestrogens / natural plant estrogens, is that they can eliminate vaginal dryness in many women because isoflavones have estrogenic effects without the risk of estrogen therapy.

Another thing you may want to try is applying 1/2 teaspoon of natural progesterone cream intravaginally once a day.

You can insert a vitamin E capsule intravaginally for lubrication and to ease the pain of dryness. No need to break open the capsule; the pH of your body will do the job. This is one of the least expensive, most natural and effective ways of treating vaginal dryness. Just check the outer coating of the capsule first to make sure there are no sharp areas, so that you don't scratch the vaginal area when inserting. You can also cut open the capsule and place the vitamin E oil in the palm of your hand, then put some on your finger and insert it into your vagina. Again, make sure you have no nails that are sharp which might cause scratching or irritation.

Aloe vera/slippery elm paste is often used to soothe and lubricate an inflamed, dry vagina. Mix enough slippery elm powder into some aloe vera gel to form a thick paste. Apply inside the lips and up into the vagina. It will feel very cool and soothing.

Homeopathic or herbal methodolgy of treating vaginal dryness: tincture of Motherwort 10 drops twice a day.

You can also take tincture of Dong Quoi, 25 drops a day ( or use the caplets), but don't use Dong Quoi if you have fibroid tumors.

Do you use Coconut oil...?

Life goes

Is it good stuff? What is it good for?

Answer
its good for everything hair, nails , uring a cold, everyhing

Is coconut oil really good for your hair?

Q. Or is there a better oil to use?

Answer
You get very little benefits than adding oil on your hair. I eat a lot of fresh young tender coconut slices, and I also drink the coconut juice, right out of the fresh coconuts. You get 100% benefits from them, than putting them on your hair, since you have to wash them off again!

You read them online, were they trying to sell you products? Are they bloggers, posting links to their products, too? How do their hair look in their Avatars?

Beauty or hair products don't make hair grow. Eating is for growing, how does hair products GROW HAIR, lashes, and make them thicker?

You really are what you eat. If you're eating all the healthy foods from Mother Nature - not made by man or woman or supplements from GNC, your hair, nails, teeth, and the rest of your body will benefit too. You get all your vitamins & minerals from your diet.

There are more hair oil on the shelf now, than 30-40 years ago, and it's because it is a billion dollar business! There are more hair loss now, too, than 30-40 years ago!

There are many hair oil brand out there, man-made oil, none is better than the other. It can very well even harm your hair, even causes hair loss, since you don't know exactly what kind of oil they say it is. In the lab, they add other ingredients that can prevent from spoiling.

It does NOT make hair grow, it does not make hair thicker, it does help keep the hair moisturized, until you wash them again, that's about all it does, they're not glue to fix split ends, prevent, or reverse the damaged hair. Anything else they say on the label, it is to attract your attention. It is a billion dollar business and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra is ready to go on record saying that most manufacturers in the Rs 3,000-crore Indian cosmetics industry are rampantly misleading consumers with tall claims. This affliction goes beyond hair oils. FDA has found that from face creams to soaps and other items of personal care, cosmetics companies are taking the general public for a ride. The industry, of course, sees the whole issue differently.

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesn’t get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,” Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. .

What is vegetable fat?

I see it on my Mars bar list of ingredients but I'm not sure what it is? Is it the same thing as trans fat?

Answer
Vegetable fat is any fat or oil that has a plant origin rather than an animal origin.
Olive oil, coconut oil, corn oil, rapeseed oil, etc etc are all vegetable fats.
Trans fats are (usually) vegetable fats that have been treated so that they behave more like animal fats (ie like lard). They will last for a lot longer but offer no health benefits at all. In fact, trans fats can be very bad for your health and are reported to cause cancer. I believe that trans fats are banned in the US (but not in UK).
As far as I am aware, companies have to state in the packaging if a product contains trans fat. Mars is an American company so I would have thought there is no trans fat in Mars bars.

Could someone recommend black head creams for sensitive skin? UK?

Anonymous1

I have so many black heads on my face and now I'm breaking out on my chest. What creams from the uk are there for my skin please? I don't care about the price.
Are there nose pads or something I can put on to get rid of black heads?

Answer
I used to breakout in acne due to oily skin and have eczema myself. Genetic, Stress and Bacteria can affect hormones and can theoretically promote acne. Here are some home remedies that can help but do not mix them together. You want to make sure you exfoliate your face every other day. Before putting any application on face for acne rinse with cool water then pad dry.

9) Mederma good for stretch marks and scars
10) Nadinola fades dark spots for a more even skin tone
11) Toothpaste is very effective for acne leave on face for about 20 to 30 minutes then wash. Leave on to long will leave a scar.
12) Zinc really works on acne
13) 2% Erythromycin
14) Benzoin Peroxide
15) Hydrogen Peroxide 3% - It can help to dry out acne by killing bacteria on the skin.
16) Vitamin B3- also known as niacin. It promotes healthy skin, can be utilized as an acne treatment.
17) Retinoid- increase collagen production and plump fine lines, making it a good choice if you’re dealing with acne and wrinkles.
18) Sulfur- dries up pimples and keeps sebum production in check, helping to prevent future blemishes. Sulfur has a distinct smell think rotten eggs.
19) Coconut oil good for acne and scars.
21) Turmeric powder is also good for acne.
22) Neutrogena products
23) Brown Listerine also sucks the life of your acne wash after about 15 minutes.
24) Witch Hazel & Rubbing Alcohol both are good for acne
25) Aloe Vera either from the plant itself or gel apply on the infected area.
26) Neem oil-good for acne, psoriasis, eczema, skin ulcers (taken either orally in capsule or externally in oil)

If you like you can purchase at http://www.amazon.com/ref=ap_frn_logo or in health food stores. It is the same price as some of the acne medications, either prescribe or over-the-counter.

Is coconut oil a moisturizer for natural hair?

Katrina Co

My hairis all natural.

Answer
Yessss coconut oil is so good for hair! It works well on any type of hair, natural or dyed. I use it on mine a lot (also all natural) and it keeps it really moisturized and shiny and strenghtens it so it doenst break as much. Virgin/ unfiltered is the best kind since it doesn't have any kind of chemicals or anything in it.
Just take a blob of it (it's kind of solid) and start rubbing it in your hair. The oil will get all melty and more like you'd expect oil to look from the heat of your hands. Massage it in so your scalp and hair is all coated. Then you can either blow dry it for about 15 minutes or just leave it in for about 30. That way the oil has time to penetrate into the hair follicle and do all the stuff it does. After you do that, take shower and wash your hair, you can also condition it if you'd like. I usually end up washing it a couple times so it isn't greasy.
If you're going to do it for some kind of special occasion you should probably do it a day or two before cause like I said, it has a tendency to get greasy right after. Not thatt bad but I think it looks better after a little bit. Well anyway good luck :)

Coconut oil question?!?

Carly

Today i bought 100 percent pure coconut oil. Is that good to put on the face as a moisturizer ?

Answer
Check out this article: Coconut Oil For Skin, Hair, Body: 6 Things To Know About The Super Ingredient

The Huffington Post | By Simone Kitchens:

"Why coconut oil is better than the average face moisturizer. And hair serum. And body lotion: "Commercial moisturizer contain lots of water, which makes you feel like your skin is being moisturized. But as soon as the water dries, your skin becomes dry again. Also, many commercial brands of moisturizer contain petroleum-based ingredients that can suffocate the skin. In contrast, coconut oil provides deep and real moisture. It helps strengthen underlying tissues and helps remove excessive dead cell on the skin's surface that makes your skin rough and flaky in texture. It also great for shine and as a natural moisturizer for your hair." ~~ By Simone Kitchens.

Why coconut oil is good for health ........?

SHIVA

Answer
Coconut oil consists of more than ninety percent of saturated fats (Don’t panic! First read to the last word.
* The Saturated Fatty Acids: Most of them are Medium Chain Triglycerides, which are supposed to assimilate well. Lauric Acid is the chief contributor, with more than forty percent of the share, followed by Capric Acid, Caprylic Acid, Myristic Acid and Palmitic.
* The Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids: Linoleic Acid.
* The Monounsaturated Fatty Acids: Oleic Acid.
* The Poly-phenols: Gallic Acid, which is phenolic acid. These poly-phenols are supposed to be responsible for the fragrance and the taste of Coconut Oil and Virgin Coconut Oil is rich in these poly-phenols.
* Certain derivatives of fatty acid like Betaines, Ethanolamide, Ethoxylates, Fatty Esters, Fatty Polysorbates, Monoglycerides and Polyol Esters.
* Fatty Chlorides, Fatty Alcohol Sulphate and Fatty Alcohol Ether Sulphate, all of which are derivatives of Fatty Alcohols.
* Vitamin-E and Vitamin K and minerals such as Iron.
Let us now explore the benefits of coconut oil in detail:
Hair Care:
Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams. Coconut oil is normally applied topically for hair care.
Skin Care:
Coconut oil is excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skins including dry skin. The benefit of coconut oil on the skin is comparable to that of mineral oil. Further, unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin with the application of coconut oil. Coconut oil therefore is a safe solution for preventing dryness and flaking of skin. It also delays wrinkles, and sagging of skin which normally become prominent with age. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Therefore coconut oil forms the basic ingredient of various body care products such as soaps, lotions, creams, etc., used for skin care. Coconut oil also helps in preventing premature aging and degenerative diseases due to its antioxidant properties.
Heart Diseases:
There is a misconception spread among many people that coconut oil is not good for the heart. This is because it contains a large quantity of saturated fats. However, coconut oil is beneficial for the heart. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing various heart problems including high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. The saturated fats present in coconut oil are not harmful as it happens in case of other vegetables oils. It does not lead to increase in LDL levels. It also reduces the incidence of injury in arteries and therefore helps in preventing atherosclerosis.
Weight Loss
Coconut oil is very useful in reducing weight. It contains short and medium-chain fatty acids that help in taking off excessive weight. It is also easy to digest and it helps in healthy functioning of the thyroid and enzymes systems. Further, it increases the body metabolism by removing stress on pancreases, thereby burning out more energy and helping obese and overweight people reduce their weight. Hence, people living in tropical coastal areas, who eat coconut oil daily as their primary cooking oil, are normally not fat, obese or overweight.
Digestion
Internal use of coconut oil occurs primarily as cooking oil. Coconut oil helps in improving the digestive system and thus prevents various stomach and digestion related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil have anti microbial properties and help in dealing with various bacteria, fungi, parasites, etc., that cause indigestion. Coconut oil also helps in absorption of other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
Immunity:
Coconut oil is also good for the immune system. It strengthens the immune system as it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have antifungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties. The human body converts lauric acid into monolaurin which is claimed to help in dealing with viruses and bacteria causing diseases such as herpes, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and even HIV. It helps in fighting harmful bacteria such as listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and harmful protozoa such as giardia lamblia.

Coconut oil for curly hair?

Amara

I have 3b curly hair. I want to try wetting my hair, and applying coconut oil when I get out of bed. What are your experiences with coconut oil? What will it do to my dry, frizzy, boring looking hair? Also, i've heard rumors that coconut oil helps hair growth. Is this true? Thanks! :)

Answer
I think using coconut oil on your 3b type hair will dwfinitely benefit it, since curly haor is usually so dry. However, I'm not sure if a daily application is necessary...maybe just on your wash days? It gives great shine, seals in moisture, and smells heavenly, nut is a little thick for days when you're not shampooing first. That's just what I thonk, it could work great for you as a daily oil.

I have type 4(a/b/c mix) curly hair, do I definiteky know what you mean about drynessvand frizziness. I have been using extra virgin coconut oil for almost 3 years now and I love it. I personally, use it as a pre-shampoo treatment once a week, the night before I shampoo. I put a plastic cap over it amd then then next morning, I just wash my hair as I normally would. It adds some shine and softness to my hair and helps prevent my haor from sucking in excessive amounts of water or shampoo. I don't kniw if it's because of the coconut oil itself, or because I have generally just been taking better care of my hair period, but coconut oil is one of those "hair care products" that I just can't(won't) ever stop using.

As for making your hair grow? It doesn't. The rate at which your haor grows is determined by your DNA. However, priper hair care, with or without coconut oil, will result in a lot less breakage.

Does gatorade have trans fat in it?

jumpingsta

Answer
No - Gatroade does not contain any fat/transfat.
Trans fats are primarily from hydrogenated oils like Crisco & margarine. Liquid oils go through a process called hydrogenation to make them solid @ room temperature. At first, these fats were thought to be healthier than saturated fats (animal fats, coconut oil, etc.). However, recent research has shown that trans fats are bad because the body is not designed to process them.

For your reference here are some articles explaining trans fats and their impact:

How do i get 6 pack abs?

Live.Love

I am 13 5'6" and 113 pounds. I am going on a school field trip to the great escape in june. I want to get more muscular and have a 6 pack by june. Can a 13 year old have a gym membership? What are some excercises and diets that will help? Is 9 months enough?
Could i go to a gym if i go with my mom?

Answer
You are a bit young to start seriously pumping iron, wait 2-3 years and get good instructions from a trainer, a good program.

For now, eat healthy and excersice with your body. Playing sports (martial arts?), running, bicycling, pushups, chins, squats, situps.. You can do all kind of things with your body, check out wrestling/grappling drills, will make you fitter and stronger. Dont worry to much about the six pack, it comes as a part of the package.

If you want to gain weight and muscle you need to eat right, and enough.
Cut down on BS like fastfood, sodas and all that stuff.
Eat healthy: fish, eggs, lentils, beans, nuts, vegetables, oat grains, berrys, fruits. Superfoods like raw cacao, acai, extra virgin coconut oil, hemp protein (make smoothie). Educate yourselfe on diett, it is VERY important when you are building body. Dont go hungry, eat (healthy) when you need to.

Good spirit kid ;-)

Answer
coconut custard pie OR:

Thai-Style Chicken in Coconut Sauce

Yield: Serves 6

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 whole chicken legs (about 3 pounds), cut into drumstick and thigh sections
2 teaspoons minced peeled fresh gingerroot
2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
2 tablespoons dry Sherry
an 8 1/2-ounce can cream of coconut
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh coriander plus, if desired, coriander sprigs for garnish

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 1/2 teaspoons minced seeded fresh jalapeño pepper, or to taste (wear rubber gloves)
2 red bell peppers, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, or to taste
cooked rice as an accompaniment

In a large kettle heat the oil over moderately high heat until it is hot but not smoking and in it brown the chicken, patted dry, in batches, transferring it as it is browned to a plate. To the kettle add the gingerroot and the garlic and cook the mixture for 1 minute. Add the flour and the curry powder and cook the mixture, stirring, for 1 minute. Whisk in the Sherry, the coconut cream, and the broth and bring the mixture to a boil, whisking. Add the black pepper, the chopped coriander, the soy sauce, the jalapeño, the chicken, and any juices that have accumulated on the plate and simmer the mixture, covered, for 10 minutes. Add the bell peppers and simmer the mixture, covered, for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooled through. Transfer the chicken with a slotted spoon to a serving dish and keep it warm. Boil the liquid until it is thickened and reduced to about 2 cups, skim off the fat, and season the sauce with salt and pepper and the lime juice. Nap the chicken with some of the sauce, garnish it with the coriander sprigs, and serve it with the rice.

OR:

Chicken in Spicy Coconut Sauce

If you like curries, you'll love this recipe. The sauce is rich with coconut flavor and redolent with spice. Don't be alarmed by the number of red chiles — these are mild.

Yield: Makes 8 servings
Active Time: 40 min
Total Time: 2 hr

3 pound chicken drumsticks and thighs
2 teaspoons salt
2 rounded tablespoons tamarind from a pliable block
1/2 cup hot water
1 cup chopped shallots (4 large)
10 (5 1/2-inch) fresh Holland red chiles, sliced crosswise (1 cup), including seeds
1 tablespoon chopped peeled fresh ginger
2 teaspoons chopped peeled turmeric (fresh or thawed frozen) or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons ground coriander
2 fresh lemongrass stalks, 1 or 2 outer leaves and all but lower 6 inches discarded
6 cups well-stirred canned unsweetened coconut milk (48 fl oz; not low-fat)
1 (1-inch) piece galangal (fresh or thawed frozen), sliced crosswise
2 teaspoons packed dark palm sugar or dark brown sugar

Rub chicken with salt and let stand at room temperature 30 minutes.

While chicken stands, gently mash tamarind with hot water in a bowl using your fingertips until pulp is softened, then force with a rubber spatula through a medium-mesh sieve into a small bowl, discarding solids. Pulse shallots, chiles, ginger, and turmeric with cumin and coriander in a food processor until finely chopped. Lightly smash lemongrass stalks with bottom of a heavy skillet.

Stir together coconut milk, tamarind purée, shallot mixture, lemongrass, galangal, and palm sugar in a 6- to 7-quart wide heavy pot. Add chicken and bring to a simmer over moderately high heat, stirring frequently, then reduce heat and gently simmer, partially covered, until very tender, 40 to 45 minutes. Transfer chicken with tongs to a bowl and simmer sauce, uncovered, stirring frequently, until thickened and reduced to about 4 cups, 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes, then skim off any fat if desired. Discard lemongrass and season sauce with salt. Add chicken and stir to coat.

Cooks' note:
Chicken can be made 2 days ahead and cooled completely in sauce, uncovered, then chilled, covered. Reheat over moderately low heat.

That doesn't just manifest itself as chunks of meat. It's great that you don't eat meat, but you should also look into what things like gelatin are before you call yourself a vegetarian.
Empty skulls: It's the artifical flavors and the Magnesium Stearate I was concerned with. I was hoping someone on here would know so that I didn't have to write to the company and ask what the artifical flavors are. And I know lot of things with "sterate" in it are from animal sources/

Answer
I found these ingredients online in about 10 seconds:
INGREDIENTS: Dextrose, Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Malic Acid and Less than 2% of Magnesium Stearate, Egg Albumen, Artificial Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Mono- and Diglycerides, Blue 1, Blue 1 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Green 3, Red 3, Red 40 Lake, Yellow 5, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6.

Unless the artificial falvors or colors contain animal byproducts, it seems pretty veggie.

Is Marie Callendar's Coconut Cream Pie ok for vegetarians?

Kayla

I'm wondering if there is anything in one of these pies that would NOT be ok for a vegetarian to eat? (I'm NOT vegan....just vegetarian)

Here's the ingredient list:

WHOLE MILK, WATER, HALF AND HALF (MILK CREAM), SUGAR, VEGETABLE SHORTENING (MAY CONTAIN PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN, COTTONSEED AND/OR PALM KERNEL OILS), ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), COCONUT, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, EGG YOLKS, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SALT, DEXTROSE, SODIUM CASEINATE*, (A MILK DERIVATIVE), ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, POLYSORBATE 60, SORBITAN MONOSTEARATE, XANTHAN GUM, GUAR GUM, PROPYLENE GLYCOL (ADDED TO RETAIN FRESHNESS), SODIUM METABISULFITE (ADDED TO RETAIN WHITENESS), COLORED WITH BETA CAROTENE. MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF PEANUTS AND/OR TREE NUTS.
This might be a shocker...but I asked this question to get an answer. Not to be lectured about my eating practices.

Answer
It looks to me as though it is safe for vegetarians. It is vegans that don't eat milk and egg. It doesn't have gelatin or anything like that, so I would say so. Although I don't typically eat food with ingredients that I am unaware of what they are. But to the best of my knowledge, I would say there is nothing in there that is not vegetarian approved. I always find that if I am uncertain about an ingredient, it also helps to googel it to find out what the unknown ingredients are made of. Hope I helped.

please i need help for my dry face!!?

Dance4life

Hi guys i have some problems with my face skin if enyone know something, first of all i hate my skin face b'cose is like a 1 year old kid(very sensitive) and i am 21 years old! :(...i can't have products with alcohol it will irritate my face.'Is very dry, red and flaky,i CAN'T use moisturizers not even the most sensitive one, don't tel me pls home made and stuff like that its not working. if anyone knows enything!!

Answer
Try using OCM - seriously, I've yet to find a skin condition or a person this does not work for, as well as cleaning and caring for your face it'll help moisturise it too.

See http://www.moogoo.com.au/category13_1.htm

Oil Cleansing Method (OCM) maintains natural oils keeping skin healthy so prevents acne, flaking, irritation, dryness, oilyness, etc. For OCM mix half extra virgin olive oil to moisturize and half castor oil to cleanse, also try adding a little tea tree oil which is antibacterial - there are other oils that you can try such as sweet almond which is nice and light or jojoba which is close to the skins natural oils. Massage into your face then put a hot face cloth over your face for a minute to open pores, then wipe off oil, any trace amounts are absorbed into skin so won't be greasy.

After cleansing, or if you don't want to try OCM, I'd recommend either olive oil (again, moisturising), coconut oil which is solid but melts at body temperature and is very well known for it's benefits to skin and hair (you should be able to find this in most stores in the shampoo isle or in Body Shop), or Bio Oil http://www.bio-oil.com which is a nice light oil, it is expensive but some bargin stores will sell a cheaper alternative that works just as well.

Basically my advice is remember that oil is good for skin, companies would like to make us believe that isn't the case - it's true oily skin causes problems like spots, but only because there is too much oil and it lingers on the skin trapping dirt and bacteria, if you use an oil that's quickly absorbed it can make a huge difference to your skins health, it won't cause spots or irritation and your skin will be less oily.

Why are you against homemade? You say it's not working but you don't say what you have tried or why it isn't working, fact is you'll have much more luck with homemade because commercial products contain a whole host of chemicals that can make the problem much worse. I'd recommend two other sites to you, the first is the Naturalliving community on Livejournal http://community.livejournal.com/naturalliving take a look through their memories section to look for ideas as they are generally very well-educated about health and beauty, the other site is Skindeep http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com which is about ingredients in toiletries, it might be useful if you knew more about the products that you are putting on your face so you know what sort of ingredients are causing you problems and find alternatives.

Soo... How do i REALLY get rid of acid reflux?

Orlando

Seriously im tired of this, im a solo singer at my high school (im 15) and 6 and a half months ago i kept losing my voice and felt a burn so i thought it was a sore throat so i did vocal rest for 2 weeks but no luck, so i went to the doctor and they took a look at my vocal cords and saw some acid reflux so they gave me this pill Called lanzoprazole for the acid and told me to change my life style, so i did everything the doctor told me and im still with acid reflux but way worse than it ever was especially when i eat vegetables, and the worst is that my solo voice is gone and its raspy now, it hurst 24/7, the worst is that my dad thinks its nothing because he doesnt want to pay for doctors, i really cant afford to spend 20,000 dollars on surgery, can somebody tell me cure, a legit one, i looked everywhere and everytime i find something that sounds good it says "want to get rid of gerd, then buy this book" which is bullshit since if they wanted to help you they would tell you instead of making you buy their shit, but im really depressed because i know ill have to live in diets and taking medications for the rest of my life and still have reflux which will tear my voice eventually, i need help

benefits of coconut oil???

greatachie

What are considered to be the benefits of coconut oil in our skin??

Answer
(m)

Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being anti-viral, antibacterial and anti-fungal. Coconut oil is also being used by thyroid sufferers to increase body metabolism, and to lose weight. Virgin coconut oil is also used for making natural soaps and other health products, as it is one of the healthiest things one can put on their skin.

At one time coconut oil received negative press in the US because of its high level of saturated fat. However, modern research has shown that not all saturated fats are alike and that the fatty acids in coconut oil, the medium chain triglycerides, do not raise serum cholesterol or contribute to heart disease, but are in fact very healthy. Also, some negative studies done on coconut oil in the past was done on hydrogenated coconut oil, which has been altered from its original form. Other studies have clearly shown that traditional Asian cultures that eat significant amounts of coconut in their diet do not suffer from modern diseases seen in western cultures that promote a low-fat diet.

Much research on the nutritional and medicinal benefits on coconut oil has surfaced in recent years. Much of that research has been done by Dr. Mary Enig. Dr. Enig has classified coconuts as a "functional food," which provides health benefits over and beyond the basic nutrients. She has specifically identified lauric acid as a key ingredient in coconut products:

"Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human or animal body. Monolaurin is the anti-viral, antibacterial, and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the human or animal to destroy lipid coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza, various pathogenic bacteria including listeria monocytogenes and heliobacter pylori, and protozoa such as giardia lamblia. Some studies have also shown some antimicrobial effects of the free lauric acid."

As a "functional food," coconut oil is now being recognized by the medical community as a powerful tool against immune diseases. Several studies have been done on its effectiveness, and much research is currently being done on the incredible nutritional value of pure coconut oil. Coconut Oil Diet (Health Support)?

Sono Calda

recently bought a bottle of Health Support Coconut Oil Diet (Natural Wieght Loss Support). I was wondering if these really work or not? Would they cause you to gain any weight? What can I expect with them?

Answer
No idea what Health Support Coconut Oil is, but many people have reported the health benefits of coconut oil.

But you will need a good quality oil (i.e.) raw, unrefined, cold pressed 100% virgin organic oil

Read more here:

http://coconut-oil-diet.com/

http://www.coconutdiet.com/

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/what-is-a-coconut-oil-diet.html

You may lose weight on the coconut oil diet but you can’t remain on it forever, so once you go back to your bad food habits, the weight will eventually return.

The only real way to lose weight and (more importantly) keep it off long term, is to make permanent changes to your lifestyle.

(i.e.) healthy high fibre low fat meals, plenty of water, limiting alcohol, avoiding junk, and by following a regular exercise routine.
