spirtitual warrior: Being a vegetarian means not eating anything that used to be an animal's body., with the exception of excretions like milk and eggs. That doesn't just manifest itself as chunks of meat. It's great that you don't eat meat, but you should also look into what things like gelatin are before you call yourself a vegetarian.
Empty skulls: It's the artifical flavors and the Magnesium Stearate I was concerned with. I was hoping someone on here would know so that I didn't have to write to the company and ask what the artifical flavors are. And I know lot of things with "sterate" in it are from animal sources/
Answer
I found these ingredients online in about 10 seconds:
INGREDIENTS: Dextrose, Corn Syrup, Hydrogenated Coconut Oil, Malic Acid and Less than 2% of Magnesium Stearate, Egg Albumen, Artificial Flavors, Xanthan Gum, Mono- and Diglycerides, Blue 1, Blue 1 Lake, Blue 2 Lake, Green 3, Red 3, Red 40 Lake, Yellow 5, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6.
Unless the artificial falvors or colors contain animal byproducts, it seems pretty veggie.

Is Marie Callendar's Coconut Cream Pie ok for vegetarians?
Kayla
I'm wondering if there is anything in one of these pies that would NOT be ok for a vegetarian to eat? (I'm NOT vegan....just vegetarian)
Here's the ingredient list:
WHOLE MILK, WATER, HALF AND HALF (MILK CREAM), SUGAR, VEGETABLE SHORTENING (MAY CONTAIN PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED SOYBEAN, COTTONSEED AND/OR PALM KERNEL OILS), ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), COCONUT, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, EGG YOLKS, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SALT, DEXTROSE, SODIUM CASEINATE*, (A MILK DERIVATIVE), ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, POLYSORBATE 60, SORBITAN MONOSTEARATE, XANTHAN GUM, GUAR GUM, PROPYLENE GLYCOL (ADDED TO RETAIN FRESHNESS), SODIUM METABISULFITE (ADDED TO RETAIN WHITENESS), COLORED WITH BETA CAROTENE. MAY CONTAIN TRACES OF PEANUTS AND/OR TREE NUTS.
This might be a shocker...but I asked this question to get an answer. Not to be lectured about my eating practices.
Answer
It looks to me as though it is safe for vegetarians. It is vegans that don't eat milk and egg. It doesn't have gelatin or anything like that, so I would say so. Although I don't typically eat food with ingredients that I am unaware of what they are. But to the best of my knowledge, I would say there is nothing in there that is not vegetarian approved. I always find that if I am uncertain about an ingredient, it also helps to googel it to find out what the unknown ingredients are made of. Hope I helped.
