Is coconut oil really good for your hair?

Q. Or is there a better oil to use?

Answer
You get very little benefits than adding oil on your hair. I eat a lot of fresh young tender coconut slices, and I also drink the coconut juice, right out of the fresh coconuts. You get 100% benefits from them, than putting them on your hair, since you have to wash them off again!

You read them online, were they trying to sell you products? Are they bloggers, posting links to their products, too? How do their hair look in their Avatars?

Beauty or hair products don't make hair grow. Eating is for growing, how does hair products GROW HAIR, lashes, and make them thicker?

You really are what you eat. If you're eating all the healthy foods from Mother Nature - not made by man or woman or supplements from GNC, your hair, nails, teeth, and the rest of your body will benefit too. You get all your vitamins & minerals from your diet.

There are more hair oil on the shelf now, than 30-40 years ago, and it's because it is a billion dollar business! There are more hair loss now, too, than 30-40 years ago!

There are many hair oil brand out there, man-made oil, none is better than the other. It can very well even harm your hair, even causes hair loss, since you don't know exactly what kind of oil they say it is. In the lab, they add other ingredients that can prevent from spoiling.

It does NOT make hair grow, it does not make hair thicker, it does help keep the hair moisturized, until you wash them again, that's about all it does, they're not glue to fix split ends, prevent, or reverse the damaged hair. Anything else they say on the label, it is to attract your attention. It is a billion dollar business and they do not give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Maharashtra is ready to go on record saying that most manufacturers in the Rs 3,000-crore Indian cosmetics industry are rampantly misleading consumers with tall claims. This affliction goes beyond hair oils. FDA has found that from face creams to soaps and other items of personal care, cosmetics companies are taking the general public for a ride. The industry, of course, sees the whole issue differently.

"You find people oiling hair every single day, the hair sweats and it doesn’t get washed. What do you think happens? It goes limp and becomes thin because it is not breathing,” Shamillah Mohammed, a hairstylist at SUQA, says.

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. .
