Coconut Oil for Eczema?

*AMY*

Hello! I suffer from atopic and contact dermatitis (aka Eczema) and a coworker suggested I try organic, unrefined coconut oil. I am wondering if anyone who has eczema has had success with this as a treatment? My skin can be VERY reactive and can become inflamed (especially around the eyes) almost immediately when I apply anything except cortisone ointment. I'm worried that I may have a reaction to the Lauric Acid in the oil.

Any thoughts or suggestions you have will be welcomed as I am at my wit's end.

Answer
Hi, you can try one of the natural remedies available on the Internet â some of them do work. For my eczema I use herbal cream by Champori quite successfully. It takes just a couple of weeks to clear the spots and then they stay clear for months on end.
Try it: Champori doesnât need a prescription and comes with money back guarantee so if it doesn't work for you - it's free.
Best,
Gail

Coconut oil making my eczema worse and drier?

T

I've started using coconut oil for my severe eczema after seeing great reviews about it. After 2 days, it seems that my skin has become extremely dry. It's not flaky like usual, but it seems as if it sucks up the oil very rapidly even though I put more on. Should I keep using it a couple more days or another week or is this a sign that I should stop? And does anyone know why this is happening?

Answer
I prefer olive oil. A lot of other oils are just too light, because my skin is really dry also. I use a Cocoa Butter lotion too though. I put them both on back to back while my skin is still wet from the shower.

Cortizone cream helps with the itching too, if you have that. It's really good with moisturizing and healing dry itchy skin.

Cetaphil also makes a really good skin cream that is really good for dry sensitive skin.

Don't forget to drink lots of water, and take a multivitamiin every day. Helps a lot. I also take an Omega 3/6 pill, and a Vitamin E pill everyday. They are really great for dry skin.

Best of Luck.
