How is 365 (Whole Foods) 100% Organic, Unrefined, Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil?

Rodriguez1

How is this product compared to other Coconut oil. It says that it is 100% Organic, Unrefined, Expeller Pressed Coconut Oil. Are the health benefits significantly different from those that are not expeller pressed? What does expeller pressed mean?

Answer
Expeller pressed oil is oil extracted from nuts or seeds by crushing them. These are usually more expensive because it is not a chemical treatment of the product to yield more oil.

Coconut oil for curly hair?

Amara

I have 3b curly hair. I want to try wetting my hair, and applying coconut oil when I get out of bed. What are your experiences with coconut oil? What will it do to my dry, frizzy, boring looking hair? Also, i've heard rumors that coconut oil helps hair growth. Is this true? Thanks! :)

Answer
I think using coconut oil on your 3b type hair will dwfinitely benefit it, since curly haor is usually so dry. However, I'm not sure if a daily application is necessary...maybe just on your wash days? It gives great shine, seals in moisture, and smells heavenly, nut is a little thick for days when you're not shampooing first. That's just what I thonk, it could work great for you as a daily oil.

I have type 4(a/b/c mix) curly hair, do I definiteky know what you mean about drynessvand frizziness. I have been using extra virgin coconut oil for almost 3 years now and I love it. I personally, use it as a pre-shampoo treatment once a week, the night before I shampoo. I put a plastic cap over it amd then then next morning, I just wash my hair as I normally would. It adds some shine and softness to my hair and helps prevent my haor from sucking in excessive amounts of water or shampoo. I don't kniw if it's because of the coconut oil itself, or because I have generally just been taking better care of my hair period, but coconut oil is one of those "hair care products" that I just can't(won't) ever stop using.

As for making your hair grow? It doesn't. The rate at which your haor grows is determined by your DNA. However, priper hair care, with or without coconut oil, will result in a lot less breakage.
