I havent eaten really in three days because i got the stomach bug and all of a sudden i got this terrible salt craving. Please help.

Answer
If you are craving salt after being sick, you probably need both salt and liquid!

If you haven't eaten much in three days, start with soups and other liquids. Coconut water is very hydrating and will help a lot!

Mushroom soup is easy to make or buy. Any kind of vegetable soup would be good. Butternut squash soup is one of my favorites! Don't eat tomato soup yet, though, as it might irritate your stomach. Enjoy your soup with whatever kind of crackers or chips you like!

If you are already eating solid food, try jicama! You can eat it raw and plain on its own, or sprinkled or dipped in seasonings. Just peel the jicama with a knife and cut into sticks or wedges. I wouldn't go super spicy yet because your tummy is still sensitive, but you can sprinkle with salt and a little olive oil, or dip in a simple sauce of nutritional yeast, a, optional splash of apple cider vinegar, olive oil, and water to thin it out a little, some salt, and whatever seasonings sound appetizing - some garlic, or paprika, or mild chili powder, or mild curry powder would be good. (I used chili powder, cayenne, and hot paprika with nooch, acv, sea salt, and evoo in mine but I don't have a tummy bug! I've made them spicy, mild, curry, and plain. Always delicious!)

Kale chips are the BEST snack. You can buy them or make them, either in a slow oven or a dehydrator if you have one. Mix up some olive oil, seasonings, and salt in a bowl. Add washed kale that has been cut or torn into bite sized pieces. Massage it around to coat completely. Bake in a low oven or dehydrate until crunchy. Enjoy! Good seasonings are chili powder, plain olive oil and salt, miso, ginger, pepper, salt and vinegar, anything that would be good on any chip would be delicious here!

I also like to make a simple dip that can turn into a cracker: Soak a cup of cashews or macadamia nuts. Put in the blender with a red or orange bell pepper. Blend until totally smooth - you may need to add a little water and you will definitely need to scrape down the sides several times. A high speed blender helps a lot here. Season to taste - again, chili powder or curry is great, or just a little cayenne or paprika and salt (don't go too spicy again!) Nutritional yeast is good and optional. Eat as a dip, or spread on sheets of nori and dehydrate (or bake at low temperature,) or just spread out on parchment without the nori and bake/dehydrate that way. This also makes a great coating for kale chips, by the way!

I like to spread most of it out on nori sheets and dehydrate them. I eat the rest as a dip or salad dressing while I wait for the crackers to dry. In the dehydrator, it will take overnight. In the oven, you can have them in less than half hour!

One of the most delicious and satisfying things in the world is baked sweet potato. The easiest way is to bake it whole in the skin, but that takes the longest. You can also peel it and cut into fries. Toss with olive oil, salt, and seasonings (herbs or spices, whatever you like) and bake until brown at the edges and softened throughout. Eat just like that, or dip in whatever you like to dip things in!

You can cut up and roast most veggies this way. When you haven't felt well, winter squash and/or root veggies (like potato, sweet potato, carrot, and parsnip) may be the easiest to digest.

Carrot, celery, and cucumber sticks are also awesome. I have found that they cure a lot of different kinds of cravings!

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
