I <3 Taemi

Hi!!!!
Well anyways, to get to the point...
I've heard of coconut oil but i haven't a clue of what it is....
Do you just put it on your head?
Is it edible??? ... HELP!

Answer
I LOVE coconut oil. I have a big jar of organic extra virgin coconut oil (the best kind) that I got from Walmart; look for it in the pharmacy aisle. Coconut oil, from what I've heard, has health benefits, and you can ingest it. You can also cook with it. It's also great for your skin and hair. It makes my skin and hair soft and shiny. If you have hair that easily gets oily then use only a little bit of it in your hair. For instance, before you take a nice, warm, steaming shower, put a little bit of coconut oil in your hair and rinse (not shampoo or condition) while in the shower. You're hair will look nicer afterward. You can also warm some in the microwave and use it as a hot oil treatment.

Can you pre-melt and store coconut oil?

Q. I love putting coconut oil on my body because it naturally smells delicious and it moisturizes well, but it is messy and time consuming to grab little chunks and let them melt before applying. Pre-melting and storing it in a jar won't spoil it, will it?

Thanks!

Answer
When the temperature in your home is below 76 degrees, your coconut oil will begin to harden. Above 76 degrees, Virgin Coconut Oil is a clear liquid. If you keep it in the refrigerator it will remain hard. It isn't necessary to keep Virgin Coconut Oil refrigerated. It will easily last 2 - 3 years unrefrigerated, and perhaps even longer than that regardless of the expiration date. Saturated fats always lasts longer than monounsaturated fats or polyunsaturated fats do. Virgin Coconut Oil is 92% saturated, making it a very stable oil. Your skin will quickly melt Virgin Coconut Oil as your skin is 98.6 degrees. If you want, you can hold the jar under your hot water faucet for a minute or so, and it will melt pretty quickly. Liquid Virgin Coconut Oil will not go rancid any quicker than solid Virgin Coconut Oil. It will last at least several years without refrigeration whether it is in a solid or liquid form.

I've found the best price for it to be here:

The Vitacost brand is as good as the higher cost brands, and if you use the above link on your next purchase, you will get a $10.00 coupon towards your first purchase when you open your account. This coconut oil is organic, cold-pressed virgin coconut oil from the Philippines. People are even using it to lose weight and to fight Alzheimer's Disease. It's great for diabetics too.
