Coconut oil helps with losing weight.
True or false?
Answer
Yes it does! You must buy an organic, unrefined, virgin variety. It is amazing for so many things. It does not clog youre arteries, and although its a saturated fat it is not stored in the body. It raises youre metabolic rate and helps your liver metabolise fats, recent fats and fats that have been in youre body for a long time. You are more likely to get blocked arteries from cooking with olive and other vegetable oils that have a low heat resistant temp, they become trans fats when cooked and useless in the body unless consumed raw. With coconut oil it has the highest heat resistant temp about 200 degrees celcius ( sorry im in Australia!) so it is not compromised during cooking and retains in nutritional value. it is the only vegetable form of saturated fat and is useful for vegetarians that dont get any. We need saturated fat in our diet contrary to belief. What we dont need is cooked vegetable oils that are compromised, get stored in our body as fat and are basically carcinogens. Olive oil is great in a salad but once you go over its heat resistant temp its ruined, and its pretty low. To lose weight you need some oils, coconut oil, omega 3's etc, all the good oils and the liver needs oils to detoxify efficiently.
You can take a teaspoon of coconut oil 1 or 2 times a day as a supplement and youll never get sick, its anti fungal, anti bacterial and anti microbal. I know a guy who rubs it under his arms as deodorant because of its ability to kill harmful bacteria in or on the body without compromising the good bacteria. Alternatively cook with it or use it as a moisturiser.
Enjoy!
Add On; And yes, it is definately an oil. Coconut is a very oily fruit, some say a nut. Not to be confused with coconut milk or coconut water. Buy it in a jar, it should solidify in winter, be runny in summer. Dont buy one that is runny in winter, means it refined. Must be cold extracted. DO NOT HAVE 2 OR 3 CUPS OF THIS. EVER. Only a few teaspoons a day. It is an oil. A SATURATED FAT.
