Answer
Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It helps in healthy growth of hair providing them a shiny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. Coconut oil is extensively used in the Indian sub-continent for hair care. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams. Coconut oil is normally applied topically for hair care.

I put it on once a week before going to bed and then wash it out in the morning. Does it benefit your hair at all? I have dry, rough hair and I'm hoping to get shiny, soft and healthy hair. Will coconut oil work?
Do u have any other suggestions to get shiny, soft hair?
Answer
Coconut does help hair a lot, as long as it's working for you then carry on using it - for me personally even the smallest amount makes my hair appear very greasy, instead I use olive oil and rosemary oil (I've got dark hair and trying to grow it, rosemary is good for both) I give myself a head massage and either leave it overnight or for half an hour before washing.
Limit shampoo use, ideally switch to 'no-poo' which won't strip hair of natural oils that it needs to stay strong and healthy as shampoo does, or try conditioner only washes, just cheap conditioners (which contain mild surfactants) wash the scalp and works better at cleaning that hair without drying it out - I personally use conditioner only aqnd my hair has never been better, shiny, soft, healthy, and seems to grow faster. Basically shampoo is stupidly bad for your hair for so many reasons, get rid of the shampoo and you will have much better hair.
