Will you offer tips to me about living w/ an elderly diabetic?

blu

Mom struggles w/ this every day. It is my first priority but admittedly I don't think I know enough about it.
This is what I think I know:

She needs insulin when her sugar is high and she needs juice/protein when her sugar is low?

Answer
Yes, I will drop in links below, to the articles I am familiar with.
Do you recall the saying that "there is more than one way to skin a cat"? Well . . .
While reading the following, you will discover that there is more than 1 way to treat diabetes, too:

". . . There is one fat that diabetics can eat without fear. . . coconut oil.
Not only does it not contribute to diabetes, but it helps regulate blood sugar,
thus lessening the effects of the disease. The Nauru people consumed large amounts of coconut oil for generations without ever encountering diabetes, but when they abandoned it for other foods and oils the results were disastrous. . ." :

". . . Coconut oil helps in controlling blood sugar, and improves the secretion of insulin.
It also helps in effective utilization of blood glucose, thereby preventing and treating diabetes. . .":

What not to eat while breastfeeding, and what's good to eat?

Stacey

I am 39 weeks with baby #3 and I've never breastfed but with this being my last I don't want to miss the opportunity to breastfeed. I tried with my younger two, but it was too painful, but I'm not giving up so easy with this one, I'm determined. I've heard there are things you can't/shouldn't eat, (like chocolate?) and I'd like to know what they are and why. I know the obvious, like alcohol and drugs, but what are the "normal" things that you can't eat. I would also like to know if there's anything that's really good to eat while breast feeding (what will help milk production)? Thanks :)

Answer
My sister in law used to eat a little bit of cooked liver each day . . . the B vitamins really helped her milk to flow.

Virgin or Pure Coconut oil is also excellent to eat, as it has many health benefits, indeed:

I have no personal experience at breast feeding,
so I found a few more sites with info that look very helpful:
