Q. I want to try doing a coconut oil treatment for my hair. My hair's rather thick and frizzy, has a couple natural waves in it, and reaches down to almost my waist.
How much coconut oil should I use?
Do I work it equally into the roots and ends, or should I concentrate it mostly on one area?
What's the optimal time for keeping it on my hair if it's the first time-- 3-4 hours or overnight?
Roughly how long will it last till I have to do it again [if I choose to]?
Thanks

Answer
You can use it on your roots, so long as you don't get oily hair. The coconut oil is good for your scalp.
Try to focus more on the ends.
With coconut oil, a little goes a long way so try not to use too much. Whether you are melting that stuff with your hands or in the microwave, you just want your hair coated with oil (not dripping with it). Coconut oil is great stuff. If you find that it's too heavy, then next time I suggest using an extra virgin olive oil, or a grapeseed oil.
You can leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour. However I lose track of time easily, so I've left it on for 3-4 hours before. You could do overnight if you want, but you don't need to leave it in that long.

coconut oil hair treatment?
Q. iv'e never used coconut oil before and i just bought some so my first question is is it ok to use refined instead of virgin? because that's what i bought and i was wondering is it ok to use heat after the treatment?? because i have to blow dry and straighten my hair
Answer
Yes it's okay, just that the virgin has most of it's nutrients in it and has a coconut smell while the refine doesn't.
