Advice About Extra Virgin Coconut Oil?

Voni

I purchased a bottle of Now Extra Virgin Coconut oil a few months ago. I use it on my hair. The expiration is dated for Nov. 2013, but the coconut oil smells funny now, it smells very strong. It doesn't have the same pleasant smell it had before. I keep it stored in a dry cool place. What should I do? Should I throw it away. Is it safe to use on my hair? Is it normal for EVCO to change it's smell over time?

Answer
How badly does it smell? I have a jar that expires next month and it still smells like delicious coconuts. If it's on your hair and not for eating, I don't think it will do any harm.

I've been researching DIY hair treatments and it said that Olive oil on your hair can help it grow. I was wondering if I substituted olive oil with coconut if it would have the same effect.

Answer
I don't use oil on my hair, the result would make my HAIR GREASY.

I get coconut oil from eating fresh coconuts, and I get oil from eating olives in my salad.
