"diets don't work"...really?

LuvPinkPuf

Looking at the physical condition of the people who were in concentration camps, it appears diets really DO work.

Now, do you need 150 gallons of gas to get to the local 7-11...can you get from LA to NY on 10 bucks worth of gas?

When someone states that diets don't work for them, ask them to submit to scientific research, because science wants to know how to cure the world of famine with a metabolism that can sustain itself with no input(food). When someone can actually do that, you got a Noble-Prize!

Answer
Over 50 years of scientific evidence in the peer reviewed literature proves that...DIETS DO NOT WORK. The caloric theory of diet has been a miserable failure.

If you were a doctor instead of a jackass, you would know that and know why. Human beings aren't machines. Intake does not equal output. We are complex, SELF-REGULATING, biological systems.

Only slashing intake of food to unreasonable levels has any discernable impact over the short term (ie under a year). That cannot be maintained for very long and the person rapidly gains the weight back and more. The reason they gain back more is your metabolism immediately reduces in response to starvation (especially starvation of protein). Also, the weight is lost first from your muscle mass. Muscle is the most biologically active tissue and is responsible for most of your metobolism. Reducing muscle vastly reduces your caloric output. If you eat the same diet with less muscle mass, you gain fat. Simple as that. Yo-yo dieting (the ONLY type of dieting people who go on diets engage in) not only doesn't work for reducing weight....it makes you fat.

So. What does work? A healthy diet. The other side of the coin is someone who makes poor food choices gets fat for a variety of complex reasons. Whole books have been written on the specifics but they don't matter. What matters is that, healthy diet works, when engaged in as a permanent lifestyle change. Get most of your calories (amount does not matter) as meat and most of your bulk as fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink only water. Only eat whole grains and those in strict moderation (there are problems with grains). Don't eat fish...it's contaminated (however, a pharmaceutical grade fish oil supplement is very helpful for a healthy diet). Don't eat junkfood, fast food, processed food (pasta, tofu, most vegetable oils sugar, flour, MSG, aspartame etc.) etc. Do have olive oil, palm oil, coconut oil, in reasonable quantities. Eat butter in moderation. Use salt with moderation (consider eliminating it as a condiment though). That's a healthy diet and the only diet that will cause permanent weight loss. It works by eliminating unbalanced, unnatural, non-food, foods that are the cause of obesity (over eating is definitely NOT the cause of obesity). Also. Stay the hell away from vegetarianism. It is unhealthy and makes you fat. It is downright dangerous when done incorrectly.

Exercise is helpful. However, most aerobic exercise is worthless. Engaging in 15 minutes of light aerobic exercise does help....but that is the maximum benefit people get from that. In order for more benefit, you need to do high intensity exercise (HIT ). If you want that, get a book and study up on it and use a heart monitor. But, for losing weight, it's weight training you want to engage in. The more muscle you put on, the less fat you will have, is the bottom line. Also, you can trim fat off of problem areas by building muscle there (the effect is hormonal).

great cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturiser package?

Mrs. B

hey :) im after a great cleanser, exfoliate, toner and moisturiser pack within the $100-$150 range.... i have tried the dermologica range and LOVE them however can not afford the price tag ($400 for 3 months worth, so good though). is there a similar one? something that comes in a pack with clear instructions and is easy for me to understand? i live in Australia so it would need to be something i could get from a chemist!
i made my self a deal - when i quit smoking for 3 months i would splurge on my skin and its been almost 4 months since my last cigarette so i have no problems in paying a bit more (or less) than the above price mark!

thanks so much xxoo

Answer
You are right - so many soaps, cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliating products, countless skin care, cosmetic and skin medicating products - and shampoos (they get on facial skin) are seriously skin harming.and skin sickening.- and of course premature skin aging. Even those products claiming to be organic and only natural ingredients have been found to contain hazardous skin sickening ingredients.
See this excellent site. Skin Deep Database: A Feelgood Resource. The database has tested many thousands of skin care and skin medicating brands and products and lists the ones found to be the most harming and those that are none harming or only minimally harming. Himalayan products and shampoos are listed as being very safe products.

I've had truly wonderful, fast results, simply massaging with safe, noncomedogenic, pure natural oils. Extra virgin olive, coconut, and grape seed are good. They do not clog, enlarge pores, or cause breakouts. They are only skin benefiting and feed and nurture skin with many healing nutrients. They are perfect, safe moisturizers - you will need no other. Just wipe away any surface excess with water and tissues. Will not leave face oily looking. I use only the oil and a totally pure soap with no coloring, no fragrances, no preservatives, no chemical additives of any kind. Pure soap is the only truly safe hair shampoo. Washing hair with the pure soap ended my many years of severe dry flaking scalp and hair loss caused by toxic shampoos. The oil and soap are both only modest costing and can be bought anywhere.
.
Quickly and permanently healed ALL of my many skin conditions, rid face of all blemishes, and even scars, and gave me a totally clear, healthy and radiant, glowing skin.
If thoroughly massage into skin, in just two days you will start to see clearing and it will look and feel healthier, will tighten, and look and feel much smoother. Keep using and skin will greatly revitalize, rejuvenate and develop a healthy glow. I look considerably younger than I am as a result of this treatment alone.
