im only 12 by the way lol

Answer
Hi! I just opened an account specifically to answer your question :) so first things first.

Never wash your hair everyday, it does strip it of its natural oils and your hair will become very oily or greasy from overproducing oil to try to compensate. IT WILL END UP GETTING GROSS WITHIN THE SPACE OF 24 HOURS. You might think "that's okay if I wash it everyday". It's not, it's very bad for your hair. It will become weak and will grow slower than plastic deteriorates into the earth. 0_0

Now that we have established that, what to do about the dandruff? I had really bad dandruff until I used a shampoo called T-Gel. The only thing with that is that you feel like it has stripped away every trace of oil or moisture because while your hair is wet it's like you have to pull at your hair to move it. It's horrible! That is until it's dry! :D When your hair dries it is incredibly shiny and beautiful. I have long REALLY curly hair so trust me its not because my hair is easy.

If you find you don't like the T-Gel you can use another shampoo that I prefer mostly because it doesnt make your hair feel stripped while it's wet and it does just as good a job (maybe even better) than the T-Gel, it's called Nizoral. Some dandruff can be caused by this certain kind of (dont be grossed out but) "fungeous", and the Nizoral treats this. Even if your dandruff isn't caused by this fungeous it still works miracles. Use it as directed and then when you see that your dandruff is gone, keep a bottle anyway and use it every week or two to keep the dandruff away.

For dry hair you can wash it twice a week with (my new found love) "Herbal Essences hello hydration MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER" and then once more a week with the Nizoral and the conditioner. It might seem weird that I only use the conditioner but this pattern is working WONDERS for me. If you want you could wash your hair twice a week, once with the Nizoral + the conditioner and then another with just the conditioner.

Look, I'm really not the product pusher, everything I'm telling you is from personal experience. I have never had "emotions" lol for a beauty product before. I AM A 20 YEAR OLD FEMALE, I am not 12 and just learning about the benefits of science and research. But I have to say I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this conditioner. I haven't cut my hair since like May and I still haven't found more than like 3 split ends on my whole head! Plus my hair is now super soft and smooth and shiny all the way to the ends! They are as healthy as the rest of my hair!!! YAY!!! I get compliments on my hair even more now. People look at me strange when I tell them what I do but hey..it works!

By the way I don't know how much the conditioner costs cause I got it reduced because the cap is busted but I can honestly say even if it was $20 a bottle (although I think it's like 7 or 8 bucks not sure) I would still buy it cause it is so worth it! And it lasts long too it's a huge bottle!!

For straightening your hair you can use Biosilk serum afterwards. It's supposed to stop your hair from looking dry. My sister says it's expensive but that it's worth it. I barley straighten my hair now so I can't really say.

I'm sorry about the length but I wanted to be thorough and I really hope you'll try it at least for a week or two. It'll change your life!!! lol! and I don't know your tastes but the scent of the one I have is "with a fusion of orchid & coconut milk" such a relaxing scent. Love it!

Okay bye now! Good luck!

About two days ago I realized I had a rough patch on my scalp at the hairline. it was itchy so I itched thinking it was dandruff I was scraping away but it was the white layer around the hair follicle with my hair easily coming out of my head. I have washed the area added olive oil, coconut oil and essential oils but nothing has has worked it it still rough, itchy and sensitive. I need help my mom said it cold be Psoriasis. Im a teenager and I don't want the area getting worst please help.

Answer
Stop using shampoo and see if that helps. There is a method called CO where you shampoo with conditioner, a good method for controlling scalp issues. Also I would treat it with some Cortizone cream first and see if that helps - if it truly is Psoriasis then raw shea butter would be the best.

The dry itch scalp is likely caused by the ingredients in the shampoo, they are just way too harsh.

Try switching to the CO method - it stands for Conditioner Only. Sounds weird but it works like a charm. I have long, thick and wavy hair so I switched to it mainly to calm the frizz and moisturize my hair but the added benefit was my scalp condition has cleared up completely.

Just use cheap shampoo without too many ingredients (Suave or White Rain are some good ones) and saturate the scalp and length. Massage your scalp really well then put on a towel or cap and leave it on for awhile (I do it at night and keep it on an hour). It truly loosens any dirt, oils and flakes and your hair will feel incredible.

I then follow up with Aloe Vera gel mixed in some good conditioner - massage that into the scalp and length and leave on for about 10 min.

Your hair color will benefit from not using sulfate shampoo - should last a lot longer.

Best of luck - and check out the Long Hair Community for lots of great advice and tips
